Duties and Responsibilities

The intern will assist in the following duties and responsibilities:

Project planning and implementation – 50%

  • Support the mapping of UNDP Philippines’ initiatives with the Private sector in the achievement of the SDGs. The intern will coordinate with the SDG Specialist/Focal Point and the Impact Advisory Team to kickstart activities for the achievement of the goals;
  • Support strategic programmatic engagement with key private sector and stakeholder partners, with a particular focus on local and international financial institutions;
  • Participate in meetings and represent UNDP in various fora as required;
  • Contribute to relevant reports, publications, and briefing notes;
  • Conduct other research and data collection tasks related to impact investing and SDG Financing, as needed.

Analysis – 30%

  • Identify and analyse emerging development priorities and provide recommendations on strategic interventions;
  • Assist in due diligence tasks such as company, industry and economic analysis;
  • Assist in the preparation of notes, summaries, presentations for events, meetings, and advisory activities;
  • Provide inputs and background information of the current private sector trend in terms of sustainability, new business models and innovations;
  • Conduct a desk review of the research on private sector SDG aligned initiatives for the publication Transformational Business;
  • Provide research support on SDG Financing and impact measurement and management.

Other – 20%

  • Overall support of the mapping and research exercise, including logistical support for key high-level meetings;
  • Drafting of knowledge/best practice and blogs on SDG financing and private sector initiatives;
  • Provide administrative support to the conduct of national and international conferences and SDG events, etc.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Development Communication, Business Management, Social Sciences or any related disciplines:

  • currently in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree; or
  • currently enrolled in a Master’s degree; or
  • have graduated no longer than 1 year ago from a master’s degree or equivalent studies.

Experience:

  1. A minimum of one year of professional work experience in either the development sector or in the private sector
  2. Familiarity in innovative finance, project finance, international financial market, and partnerships
  3. Background in social impact measurement and management
  4. Knowledge in private sector sustainability metrics.

Language Requirement: Fluency in English is required.

Other desirable work experience:

1. Volunteering, working as part of a team, emerging market experience, resource mobilization, partnerships and coordination, research.

2. Familiarity with the UN system will be an asset.

 

INTERNSHIP CONDITIONS

  1. UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship;
  2. Interns are responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed;
  3. Interns are not eligible to apply for, or be appointed to, any post in UNDP during the period of the internship;
  4. Interns must provide proof of enrolment in health insurance plan;
  5. Interns are not staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity;
  6. Interns are expected to work full time but flexibility is allowed for education programmes;
  7. Interns need to obtain financing for subsistence and make own arrangements for internship, travel, VISA, accommodation, etc.
