Job Description

Job Background/Overview:
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking an Officer, Funding Propositions & Impact Reporting Services to create donor proposals, impact reports, grant-related written communications, one-pagers, pitch decks, and other fundraising collateral. The creative content will primarily target trust and foundation partners, with the potential to work on writing projects for teams across our High Value Fundraising teams in support of the mission and vision of The IRC. The role will be a valuable member of the Funding Propositions & Impact Reporting team and the wider Global Partnerships and Philanthropic Services (GPPS) Unit.

Since its inception in 1933, the IRC has delivered lasting impact to refugees fleeing war or disaster by offering lifesaving care, life-changing assistance, and empowering individuals and communities to become self-reliant. We seek a candidate with 3- to 6- years of professional writing experience and a background supporting a nonprofit organization’s foundations and trusts grant portfolio. Writing samples will be required. The Officer will bring their creativity and sector experiences to improve our donor communication strategies.

Major Responsibilities:
• Business Development Writing: Responsible for producing persuasive and well-structured grant proposals for envelopes of 6 figures or more. Conduct research, collaborate with various teams (fundraising, program, etc.), and articulate the organization’s goals, strategies, and impact to secure funding for humanitarian projects. Transform technical, programmatic content into sophisticated, compelling, donor-friendly materials.
• Impact Reporting: Create comprehensive reports and other written materials highlighting the outcomes and efficiency of projects, including communicating the impact of some of IRC’s largest private-sector partnerships. Collect data and human-interest stories and present the results clearly.
• Project Management: Lead project completion, curate content, and build editorial timelines to finalize written assets across IRC teams. Coordinate with team members, set priorities, and apply resources effectively. You would act as Project Manager and Lead Writer for shorter-term projects (about 90%). For longer-term projects (about 10%), such as a complex ~3-month proposal development process, you would fill either a Lead Writer or Project Manager role.
• Internal Collaboration: Communicate and collaborate with internal teams across the IRC – liaising with teams in GPPS, Marketing & Mobilization, and various technical units.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
• Global and diverse experience writing proposals and reports for 7-figure+ grants. Preference for experience focused on education, health, nutrition, or another IRC sector of work
• Proven ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously without losing sight of the overall goals.
• Knowledge of multiple languages (e.g., Spanish, French, Arabic) and/or use of InDesign or other creative tools would be an asset.

Key Working Relationships:
Reports to: Associate Director, Funding Propositions and Impact Reporting Services

Working Environment:
This role may require working remotely or in hybrid remote/office environments. Occasional travel may be required. Applicants must have a home or alternate workspace they can effectively complete their work from during regularly scheduled hours.

Compensation:
Posted pay ranges apply to US and UK-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget.  Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.

US Benefits:
The IRC offers a comprehensive and highly competitive set of benefits. All US employees are eligible for sick time, a 403b retirement savings plans: up to 4.5% immediately vested matching contribution, plus an 3-7% additional IRC contribution, and an Employee Assistance Program which is available to our staff and their families to support in times of crisis and mental health struggles.

In addition, full-time employees are eligible for 10 US paid holidays, 20-25 paid time off days, disability & life insurance, medical, dental, and vision insurance (employee contribution starting at $135, $7, and $5 per month respectively) and FSA for healthcare, childcare, and commuter costs. Part-time employees are eligible for a proportionate amount of paid time off. These additional benefits apply to employees who work at least 6 months within a 12 month time period.
