Mission and objectives
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) program contributes to peace and development in the world through volunteering. We work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well-supported UN Volunteers into development programmes, and to promote the value and global recognition of volunteering. UNV is active in about 130 countries each year. With a field presence in more than 80 countries, UNV is represented around the world. UNV is administered by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and reports to the UNDP Board of Directors. At the country level, UNV field units engage with United Nations entities to strategically and meaningfully integrate volunteerism into the implementation and delivery of their mandates. As part of this process, UNV works with United Nations entities to identify opportunities where volunteers add specific and unique value to development programs and peacekeeping missions.
Context
This task contributes to the Peru Office’s efforts to interest a diverse set of talent in UNV volunteer opportunities in the country. In this way, the support provided by online volunteers will help the United Nations system find highly qualified people for its efforts in the areas of peace and development of the country. This assignment is under the UNV online volunteering modality, the tasks that the selected people will perform will be short-term, under the supervision of UNV Peru and at the end of the assignment they will receive a certificate of appreciation issued by the United Nations Volunteer Program . Task description
The online volunteers will carry out an Internet search and make phone calls to find and corroborate data from organizations that can help us make the experience offered by UN Volunteers Peru highly attractive to different talent profiles (for example, associations of students, professional associations, universities, etc.). They will be asked to generate databases for the Peru office considering five macro-regions in the country (North, East, Center, South, and Lima). In addition, online volunteers will have the opportunity to support the improvement of data management through the generation and cleaning of data to ensure the consistency of the information collected.
Requirements
Required experience
Online volunteers must have the following skills and experience: – Experience in managing Excel databases and knowledge of the software – Experience in Internet data mapping – Working knowledge of Spanish – Knowledge of the country (Peru) – Knowledge of the United Nations system would be an advantage. – You are requested to update your profile before applying.
