Mission and objectives
Established in 1951, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is the leading United Nations organization in the field of migration and is dedicated to the principle that orderly and humane migration benefits migrants and people. society. IOM provides support to migrants around the world, developing effective responses to the changing dynamics of migration and, as such, is a key source of advice on migration policies and practices. The Organization works on the ground in emergency situations, facilitating the development of resilience of people on the move, and particularly those who are vulnerable, as well as promoting the capacity of governments to manage all forms of mobility and its impacts. It is in this way that the work of the IOM in Ecuador is framed in providing a coordinated and effective response, hand in hand with the government and the cooperation agencies present in the territory.
Context
During recent years, Latin America and the Caribbean have seen an increasingly important and numerous presence of Venezuelan people throughout their territory. This unusual, continuous and growing flow of population on the move represents great challenges for the host countries and for the region. It is estimated that the region is home to more than 80% of the 5.6 million Venezuelans who have left their country to date. Ecuador is one of the countries in the region that has welcomed the largest number of Venezuelan citizens after Colombia and Peru, and it is also a transit country for the Venezuelan population to the countries in the south of the region. The IOM, based on respect for the rights of migrants, and aware of the challenge that the arrival of migratory flows represents for host communities, works to support communities, national and local governments in strengthening the capacities of response to the increase in demand for public services derived from growing migratory flows. In this sense, the International Organization for Migration supports the strengthening of the capacities of the Ministry of Public Health of Ecuador (MSP) in its efforts and technical deployment to address COVID-19 and promote in a coordinated manner actions aimed at promoting health and well-being of the population in human mobility and their host communities. In this way, IOM and the MSP have signed a framework cooperation agreement, which will be executed in coordination at the central and decentralized level, which is why it is required to have technical support at the territorial level that enhances the execution of the planned actions.

Living conditions and remarks
The city of Guayaquil is one of the most important cities in Ecuador and the city with the largest population in the country, bringing together a large segment of financial, cultural and business activities. Guayaquil is home to the most important port in the country and capitalizes more than 70% of exports and imports. Located in the province of Guayas in the north-central area of the Ecuadorian coast; It is also a strategic connection point with mountain provinces and an attractive city for internal migration, especially for labor or educational reasons. On a cultural level, the city of Guayaquil is a quite diverse city, it welcomes a large population from other provinces and it is also the second city after Quito with the largest presence of migrant population, which makes it a quite diverse city with a great intercultural range. Some of the points to take into account within the living conditions in Guayaquil should be security, mobility, rent and food costs. Although the city has access to all services within the central urban areas, rental costs are quite high, over $350 in residential areas. Security is one of the most important issues in the city, due to the high incidence of robbery or assault crimes. Coverage of basic services is guaranteed in 76% of the population, especially in central and residential areas, access to medical centers and recreational spaces is feasible within these same areas, as well as transportation, despite having a public transportation system with great connectivity; It is advisable to opt for safer alternatives.
