Background

UNDP in Honduras
The UNDP has more than 45 years of presence in the country, developing interventions together with partners from civil society, academia, the private sector and the State in the areas of: strengthening the rule of law; citizen security and violence prevention; promoting productivity; combat poverty and inequalities, environmental protection and risk management. One of these interventions has managed the RedPública Honduras platform, created as a mechanism to foster greater synergy between historically underrepresented groups and decision makers in Honduras. This platform stands as a multi-sector network designed to give a voice to groups that have been historically invisible in Honduran society.

The main objective of RedPública Honduras is the construction of a public agenda that reflects the voices of citizens, their demands and proposals. This is done with the purpose of promoting advocacy and effective and participatory solutions to address the country’s most pressing challenges. RedPública Honduras offers a space for citizen participation that allows people to inform themselves, connect and share their proposals with other citizens and relevant actors.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

The internships will support the team in:  

  • Noticeably increase the visibility and participation of the RedPública Honduras platform.
  • Substantially improve the quality and diversity of citizen proposals registered on the platform.
  • Having supported the generation of analysis and recommendations based on solid data on citizen demands, which will contribute to more informed decision-making.
  • Establish and strengthen collaborative ties between citizens, civil society and decision makers in Honduras. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The intern will assist in the following functions: 

  • Actively collaborate in the daily management and administration of the RedPública platform, including the review and moderation of citizen proposals. 
  • Proactively contribute to the dissemination of the platform among citizens, civil society organizations and other relevant actors. 
  • Participate in the planning, organization and promotion of events, workshops and activities related to citizen participation 
  • Create databases and tabulate information that is collected in different spaces
  • Collaborate in the collection, analysis and presentation of data on citizen proposals and demands, generating reports and recommendations supported by evidence. 
  • Collaborate in the management of the Diploma in Inclusive Electoral Processes.
  • Provide answers to doubts and questions that arise from participants in the different spaces
  • Facilitate effective communication between the advisory board, UNDP and the RedPública Honduras team, establishing channels of dialogue and collaboration. 
  • Other activities relevant to the project

PRODUCTS TO DELIVER DURING THE INTERNSHIP:

  • Biweekly reports on the activities carried out.
  • Complete logs of the activities carried out within the framework of the RedPública HN advisory board.
  • Present an updated database with new RedPública members.
  • Weekly monitor the statistical progress of RedPública HN’s social networks.
  • Weekly report on the development of the Diploma and its participants.
  • Weekly posting of at least 3 publications on all RedPública HN social networks.
  • Present a detailed biweekly report of the proposals that enter the platform.
  • Guarantee the planning of at least 10 events around the project.

 

Competencies

  • Proactive, critical thinking and with a lot of initiative.
  • Creative spirit, open to new challenges and eager to learn. 
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to collect, analyze and synthesize relevant data and information, especially in relation to citizen participation and social problems.
  • Ability to work independently and under limited supervision.
  • Interest in social and development issues, and getting involved in an international organization. 
  • Sensitivity and ease of adaptation to diverse cultural contexts.  

 

 

Required Skills and Experience

TRAINING: 

  • Final year of a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent who wishes to develop final-year professional internships, or;
  • Having graduated a maximum of one year ago from the University or higher training institute specialized in the subject;
  • Areas of study: Social Sciences, Communication, Graphic Design, international relations or related fields.
  • Deep interest and commitment to citizen participation and the improvement of Honduran society. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in Spanish. 
  • Ability to work effectively as a team and adapt to a dynamic work environment. 

Languages:

  • It is an assignment in Spanish. 
  • Knowledge of another official United Nations language will be an advantage.

Office automation:

  • Solid knowledge of computer tools and skills in using social networks and online platforms.
  • The intern must have his/her own laptop with the respective design and editing programs to carry out his/her duties. 

CONDITIONS OF INTERNSHIP/INTERNSHIP:

  • Internships offered by UNDP are not paid, but they do have the right to a monthly stipend that will be paid in Lempiras, in the name of the intern, into their bank account at any bank incorporated in a country where UNDP operates.
  • It is required to provide proof of having valid medical insurance during the period of the internship. Indispensable condition. 
  • Field missions and expenses/travel expenses derived from trips/missions will be borne by UNDP following the same criteria received by UNDP officials and team members.
  • In the event that, during the completion of this internship, you return to UNDP facilities under the established criteria, UNDP will provide a physical space where you can carry out the internship.
  • The intern must use his/her own personal computer. Video cameras and other equipment related to the audiovisual topic will be provided for the development of functions. 
  • UNDP is not responsible for costs associated with accidents, illnesses or deaths that occur during the internship.
  • The interns are not members of the UNDP team, nor may they represent the institution.
  • At the end of the internship, a certificate and letter of recommendation will be delivered. 
  • This is a full-time internship so the availability of the selected person is required.
