ABOUT WFP

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

These jobs are found in WFP Bokh, and job holders typically report to Programme Policy Officer. The reporting lines may change depending on the size of the office.
At this level, work is carried out under minimum supervision. Job holders are expected to produce organized and accurate technical work and reports. They may provide guidance on standard practices to other staff and counterparts in their area of work.

JOB PURPOSE

To provide effective specialized support and technical analyses to policy and programme activities that effectively meet food assistance needs.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  1. Liaise with Government counterpart (ARRA), Partners (UNHCR) and cooperating partners (NGOs) as well as with Sub-Offices and field offices to receive updated beneficiary figure for each programme (General food distribution, targeted supplementary feeding, blanket supplementary feeding, school feeding programmes and closing balance)
  2. Ensure that food release notes and cash payrolls/plans are prepared and respectively shared with the supply chain and CBT team in time and follow up on dispatch/transfer and delivery status
  3. Conduct timely and efficient management of allocated resources to refugees (food, cash, and NFIs) and ensure that allocated resources are used efficiently and are in line with agreed MOU and FLAs; timely recorded and reported, and any deviations are captured
  4. Ensure GDT runs smoothly and that distribution reports from partners are received in time, reviewed, reconciled, and entered COMET
  5. Work closely with VAM and resilience building team in profiling refugee households per their socio-economic characteristics to assist targeted humanitarian assistance
  6. Work with the nutrition team to ensure that responses for refugees are nutrition-sensitive
  7. Work with VAM and CBT team to consider wherever cash is appropriate
  8. Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reporting of the refugee operation.
  9. Provide timely feedback to sub-offices and partners on progress and monthly reports received and follow up on recommended actions
  10. Perform any other duties.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A university degree in Agriculture, health, Nutrition, or any other related field is an added advantage.

Experience: Six years of experience in progressively responsible support experience in emergency food assistance and humanitarian programmes.

Knowledge & Skills: 

  • Ability to plan and organize work, initiative, and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Experience working with various implementing partners (NGOs, UN agencies, government counterparts).
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
  • Experience utilizing computers including word processing, spreadsheet and other standard software packages

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and in the local language.
