Mission and objectives
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) program contributes to peace and development in the world through volunteering. We work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well-supported UN Volunteers into development programmes, and to promote the value and global recognition of volunteering. UNV is active in about 130 countries each year. With a field presence in more than 80 countries, UNV is represented around the world. UNV is administered by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and reports to the UNDP Board of Directors. At the country level, UNV field units engage with United Nations entities to strategically and meaningfully integrate volunteerism into the implementation and delivery of their mandates. As part of this process, UNV works with United Nations entities to identify opportunities where volunteers add specific and unique value to development programs and peacekeeping missions.

Context
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) program is the UN organization that promotes volunteerism to support peace and development around the world. The primary objective of UNV is the creation of opportunities for the mobilization and placement of United Nations Volunteers in United Nations agencies, funds and programs focused on peace, development and humanitarian needs. This central task is managed through the Regional Offices that have Field Units that represent and position the program in the respective countries, bringing services and solutions closer to its partners in governments, UN entities, civil society and the private sector. In countries without Field Units it is possible to have a Country Coordinator who facilitates the representation of UNV and at the same time it is possible to have a UN Volunteer to support volunteer management actions and administrative tasks for the effective strategic planning, operational support to volunteers, and support for the promotion and positioning of UNV interests in the country, in line with the UNV Strategic Framework. Furthermore, in line with the fundamental values ​​and principles of the United Nations Charter, the United Nations has implemented the Disability Inclusion Strategy (UNDIS) since 2019. As a UN Volunteers Peru program, we join the work and efforts of the UN in the country to contribute to guaranteeing the rights of people with disabilities within the United Nations system, so that their participation is full and effective in society. . In this sense, and as part of the actions to strengthen the implementation of the strategy in the UN Volunteers Peru program, this position will be occupied by a person with a disability who meets the selection criteria indicated in this call and who participates in the evaluation process according to the established dates. Office Features Main Building Entrance: The main entrance (or an alternate entrance) to the building is wheelchair accessible (e.g. ramps, handrails, elevators, etc. are available). Office spaces: At least one office/workstation, one conference room, and one bathroom are wheelchair accessible. Office Equipment Tables, printers and other office equipment are accessible to a person who uses a wheelchair. Safety and Emergency The safety and emergency protocol takes into account people with disabilities (for example, an evacuation chair is available, etc.). Marked facilities All accessible facilities are marked with symbols or signs. Visual signals The emergency warning system has visual signals.

Task description
The general objective of this assignment is to provide appropriate assistance to the UNV Peru office in the recruitment of volunteers and on disability inclusion issues in UN entities. Within the framework of delegated authority and under the supervision of the Country Coordinator or his/her designated representative, the Program Assistant will assist in: MOBILIZATION AND MANAGEMENT OF UN VOLUNTEERS • Collaborate with agencies, funds and programs ( AFPs) of the United Nations system in the preparation of profiles for the launch of calls. • Identify and coordinate on a regular basis, together with the AFPs, the identification of profiles, recruitment, monitoring and follow-up of volunteers with some type of disability. • Provide administrative and logistical support to recruitment processes. • Support in the administration of information about national and international volunteers in the country, including contracts, Conditions of Service (COS), recruitment procedures, among others. • Collaborate with induction sessions and capacity-building sessions aimed at UN volunteers, as well as strengthen knowledge and understanding about the concept of volunteering and COS. • Develop and keep updated the UN Volunteer database. • Support the UNV Country Coordinator in ensuring proper management and monitoring of assignments, as well as office budgets. • Assist in the follow-up of cases referred to the Service desk. • Other tasks designated by the supervisor. ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS • Ensure that all UN Volunteer files and records are complete, up-to-date and uploaded to the system, maintaining confidentiality; for the respective payments or entitlements to be processed; • Support the Country Coordinator in the preparation of the necessary documents for mission trips. • Provide administrative and logistical support for the development of the Field Unit’s actions, including budget management, relationships and coordination with suppliers and payments. PROMOTION, BUILDING OF ASSOCIATIONS AND INTEGRATION OF UNV PROGRAMS • In coordination with the Country Coordinator, implement the positioning strategy of the UNV Program among the organizations of the UN system, civil society, governmental and non-governmental institutions, with emphasis on inclusion of people with disabilities. • Investigate, collect, organize, analyze and disseminate information on regulations, good practices, initiatives to strengthen the capacities of the Country Team in terms of disability inclusion in the teams of UN entities. • Consolidate databases of key entities to enhance the national talent bank, according to the profiles required according to the context, such as universities, higher education institutes, professional associations, volunteer organizations, civil organizations, among others. • Contribute to the organization of events and workshops within the framework of UNV program activities, including the organization of activities for International Volunteer Day. • Any other activity that is required or assigned by the supervisor. In addition to the above, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate into the UNV mandate within the framework of their assignment and promote voluntary action through integration into communities in the development of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate part of their work time to one of the following recommended activities: • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteering by reading relevant UNV and external publications, as well as play an active role in UNV activities (for example, events commemorating International Volunteer Day); • Know and develop traditional and/or local forms of volunteering in the host country; • Provide annual and post-assignment self-assessment reports on UNV actions, results and opportunities; • Contribute articles/reviews of your experiences in the field and send them to headquarters for inclusion in the website, publications, pamphlets/newsletters, press releases, etc. of UNV; • Assist with the Mentoring Program for new UN Youth Volunteers; • Promote or advise local groups in the use of the UNV Online Volunteering service or promote the use of the service to relevant local individuals and organizations where technically possible. EXPECTED RESULTS As an active member of the UNV team, you will provide efficient, timely, attentive, customer-friendly and quality support to UNV and its beneficiaries in the performance of their duties, including: • Effective and efficient support in the Volunteer Management Cycle in cooperation with VSC (collection of talent sources, initial onboarding, monitoring of contractual status, logistical arrangements, medical and security evacuations if applicable, end of assignment procedures) and effective use of the UVP system • Timely provision of information and data related to volunteer management, UNV field office assets, finance/procurement and administrative inputs required by UNV. • Consolidation of databases relevant to the Program. • Effective and efficient support for the operation of the UN Volunteer Field Office in Peru. • National volunteers have received their induction in a timely manner. • Agencies have a point of contact that offers them fast and effective support. • Notification procedures have been created in a timely manner for DSS, Procurement and other parts of the mobilization process. • The age, gender and diversity perspective is applied in a systematic, integrated and documented way in all activities throughout the assignment • A final balance on the achievements achieved through development volunteering during the assignment, such as presentation of reports on the number of volunteers mobilized, the activities in which they have participated and the capacities developed

Required experience
3 years of experience in general. • Experience providing administrative support; Experience in the United Nations System is valued, as well as experience in other international development organizations. • Experience in volunteer management, promotion of volunteerism and/or recruitment of people with disabilities will be highly valued. • Strong customer orientation and willingness to serve. • Excellent interpersonal skills; cultural and social sensitivity; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, including grassroots community members, faith-based and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with development communication tools and approaches; • Solid computer skills, including advanced use of various Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) as well as email/internet; familiarity with database management and office technology equipment; • Precision and professionalism in the production and editing of documents; • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of national and international staff; • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimal supervision; ability to work to tight deadlines; • Affinity or interest in volunteering as a mechanism for sustainable development and the United Nations System.

Despite the safety concerns mentioned below and the current health situation, Lima is an “A” family destination location with good medical services. • In addition to COVID-19, the third set of vaccines is mandatory, no other vaccines are required to enter the country; However, it is important to verify if the holder’s itinerary includes areas endemic for malaria, dengue or yellow fever to take precautionary prevention measures. • The most frequent crimes reported nationwide are violent assaults in the streets that occur at night, robberies with extortion in hotels, restaurants and shopping centers. • Traffic accidents have become a national public health problem due to negligence in driving, poor road safety, as well as climatic factors. • It is strongly recommended to avoid using ATMs or banking services without basic precautions and, where appropriate, the use of credit and debit cards, which should never be lost sight of, to avoid possible cloning fraud. Also, avoid withdrawing large amounts of cash, use cashier’s checks as much as possible or electronic transactions. • Peru is a country highly exposed to natural disasters since it is seismic with several cases of devastating earthquakes and tremors; Therefore, the possibility of earthquakes is expected at any time. As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for providing his or her own housing and other essentials for subsistence. National UN Volunteers are part of the intentional damage insurance scheme. RIGHTS AND BENEFITS OF A UNITED NATIONS VOLUNTEER The key benefit of being a United Nations Volunteer is the personal satisfaction that the volunteer assignment brings by having a positive impact on peace and development. However, UNV supports you during your assignment in several ways. The UNV program will provide: • A monthly volunteer living allowance (VLA) of S/. 4,847.05 to cover the costs of accommodation, housing and regular living expenses. • Health insurance (including dental) is included for up to three dependents (partner and children), life and permanent disability insurance, as well as a resettlement allowance upon successful completion of service. • Annual leave (vacation), Medical leave and Parental leave (maternity or paternity, if applicable) • E-learning courses available on the UN Volunteers online platform • Reimbursement of up to US$400 is provided against national costs of trip to the destination, as well as the establishment subsidy and the repatriation subsidy in case the destination is not located at a distance from the volunteer’s place of residence. IMPORTANT: United Nations Volunteers serve full time, therefore they should not have any employment relationship with another entity
