Mission and objectives
The Resident Coordinator’s Office supports the work of the UN Resident Coordinator and coordinates activities of the UN Country Team in its engagement with the Government as defined by the UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF).
Kenya is currently implementing UNDAF 2018 – 2022, which is the medium-term results framework that describes the response of the UN system to national development priorities. UNDAF describes how the UN country team will contribute to the achievement of development results based on a common country analysis and the UN comparative advantage.
The Resident Coordinator is leading and strategically positioning the United Nations country team in Kenya to respond to the current national priorities, mainly to Kenya’s Vision 2030, Medium-Term Plan III and the Big Four Agenda. The Office has five core functions:
Strategic Planning
Economics
Partnerships and development finance
Data and results management and reporting
Communications and advocacy
Context
UN RCO wishes to recruit a National UNV to support the Team Leader/Project Manager to facilitate coordination between County Government, UN Agencies and other development partners, facilitating efficient, effective programme delivery and increased accountability to all the stakeholders.
Task description
Under the direct supervision of the Team Leader/Project Manager, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
•Support the Team leader/Project Manager in coordination of UN agencies as part of UN Delivering as One.
•Support mapping of existing programme/support and identify opportunities where UN can add value under the UNSDCF.
•Support the County Government in strengthening UN-County coordination of development programmes.
•Facilitate UN agencies to access services and other support from the county
•Facilitate information sharing among UN agencies and county government
•Support the meetings of the Steering Committees and sector working groups by preparing background documents, and presentations, and support logistical arrangement and take notes/minutes for the meetings.
•Support preparation of regular reports including the review and analysis of emerging issues and trends, policy frameworks, evaluations and/or research activities and studies related to peace, security, human rights and governance at the County.
•Support monitoring and evaluation of UN programmes.
•Participate in field monitoring visits.
•Provide support to audit team – by providing documents and organizing meetings with relative offices.
•Support coordination of partners -UN, IFIs, government, CSOs etc.
•Provide inputs for communication materials and social media contents.

27 – 80
Nationality
Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.
Requirements
Required experience
3 years of experience in Project/Programme Coordination at national or international levels
•Experience in partnership development
•Strong written and oral communication skills
•Work experience in ASALs would be an asset
