WFP Venezuela has an operational presence in ten states, with the possibility of expansion . Under the supervision and guidance of the WFP Field-Area Office Implementation Program Associate, the Program Assistant will be responsible for supporting the management and coordination of field program implementation operations.

 

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Carry out specialized and/or standardized activities and processes related to WFP’s food assistance, technical assistance and capacity building programs. The holder is responsible for carrying out a series of specialized and/or standardized activities and processes corresponding to the implementation of programs in the field, which require a certain level of interpretation of the guidelines and standard practices, coordination between actors and collaboration with different WFP units. They work with a minimum level of supervision, perform basic analysis and compile reports to maintain consistency of information and smooth execution of programs and projects.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

This assignment is located in the WFP Field-Area Offices , under the supervision and guidance of the Field-Area Office Implementation Program Associate.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide support functions for project management and coordination in accordance with the objectives established for WFP programs in Venezuela and WFP policies and procedures.
  • Conduct specialized and/or standardized activities and processes within  the technical area of ​​activity in question, supporting harmonization with broader program policies and guidelines.
  • Carry out the activities corresponding to WFP related to food distribution plans and reports, and complementary activities, in coordination with the implementing partners, for validation of those responsible in the field-area office and under the guidance of the food programs unit. central office .
  • Carry out thorough and timely work to record data in WFP’s corporate systems and requested reports, applying institutional standards and guidelines.
  • Provide guidance and ongoing support to implementing partners to ensure effective implementation of different program activities in accordance with the WFP-NGO partnership agreement.
  • Serve as Focal Point of Communication with Communities of the Field Office to guarantee the timely dissemination of program messages to the target audience.
  • Within their specific area of ​​responsibility, collect data and support analysis and reporting (e.g. on food assistance needs, resource utilization, program progress or outputs) with in order to support operational decision making.
  • Work and exchange information with internal counterparts and implementing partners to support effective collaboration and implementation of ongoing project activities.
  • Serve as a point of contact for the resolution of general queries regarding operations and, if necessary, request assistance.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS REQUIRED

Education: Completion of secondary education. A post-secondary certificate in related functional area or bachelor’s degree in project development/management, social sciences, or related fields is desirable.
Languages: Spoken and written command of Spanish. Intermediate level of the English language desirable.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of work experience in the public or private sector – minimum 1 year in the humanitarian/development sector.

Skills: Use of basic Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint and Excel).

 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

TITLE: Program Assistant – Land

CONTRACT TYPE: Service Contract – SC5

UNIT/DIVISION: Programs

SERVICE STATION (City, Country): Multiple Duty Station

DURATION: 6 months with the possibility of extension.
