JOB DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Role and responsibilities

The following is a brief description of the role.

Generic responsibilities 

These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work and Development plan.

  1. Patrol assigned area to ensure the security of NRC’s personnel, buildings and properties

The security of the NRC building and office equipment must be checked around the premises  of the assigned office . 

  1. Watch for and immediately report irregularities and potential dangers, such as fire or water hazards or presence of unauthorized persons

  1. Inspect perimeter defenses such as gates, doors, fences, lighting and barbed wires to ensure they are intact and not tampered with. Immediately report irregularities.

  1. Reduce the impact of any attack carried out against the NRC compound through warning compound occupants, calling for assistance and assisting with evacuation or other reaction as required

Easy access to the NRC office premises from the outside must be prevented; Call for help and other response actions if necessary.

  1. Attend the main gate at all times in order to deter unauthorized entry into the NRC compound and to open for entry and exit only for authorized persons or vehicles

Full-time surveillance at the main gate and  preventing unauthorized persons from entering the NRC office. Only authorized persons and vehicles shall be allowed to enter/exit.

  1. Check the reliable legal identity (ID) of all visitors and log their entry and exit in the Visitors Book.  Ensure visitors meet the person whom they are visiting. Maintain a record of all staff and visitors within the compound at any given time.

When a guest enters, they must check and issue a guest card and keep a record of their entry/exit time in the guest log book. To ensure that the person who is going to meet and the person who is actually meeting is correct. A record of staff and guest attendance shall be maintained.

  1. Receive and screen for risk deliveries of mail/packages and other items. All deliveries shall be logged.

The products that arrived, Envelopes and other items must be inspected and accepted.

  1. Ensure proper handover to the replacement guard

Handovers must be made sure.

  1. Maintain office compound cleaning daily.

The office environment must be cleaned daily.

Specific responsibilities 

These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.

  • Ensure that communication equipment is operational and that necessary equipment (eg: touch, fire extinguisher etc) is available when taking up duty.

To have necessary equipment (such as a flashlight, fire extinguisher, etc.) ready during duty hours. Communication equipment must be checked for proper working/non-functioning. 

  • Minor incidents shall be duly recorded in the Occurrence Book;

Minor matters must also be recorded.

  • Ensure that all visitors to the expatriates’ house are duly registered in the Visitors’ Protocol, both when they arrive and when they leave the house;

The arrival and departure times of guests who come to a foreigner’s house must be recorded in the guest log. 

  • During week-ends and when duty allows, keep the entrance and terrace of the compounds clean;

Ensure the cleanliness of the office premises during the weekends and monitor the entry and exit of the office; If there are any unusual events, the above authority must be informed immediately. 

Additional considerations:

The Guards position has to be manned constantly. To facilitate this, there are three different shifts working every day, evening and night. The personnel on the various shifts will be rotated.

Security personnel will be on duty continuously. day as 3 different working hours; It must be served in the evening and at night. The employee will be assigned rotating duties with various rotation times.

  • The Security Guard acknowledges that sleeping on duty is considered a grave security violation. Any guard caught sleeping on duty will therefore be subject to disciplinary action which may result in suspension and subsequently termination of contract.

Security personnel must be aware that falling asleep on duty is a critical safety violation. If any security personnel falls asleep while on duty, they are suspended from duty; Inspection measures such as termination of the contract will be carried out. 

  • Fulfil other related tasks that may be assigned by the supervisor.

The related activities assigned by the superior officer shall be carried out according to the business requirements. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Critical interfaces

By interfaces, NRC means processes and projects that are interlinked with other departments/units or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position are:

NRC processes initiatives other departments, Liaising with employees and working with each other. Related departments for security personnel

  • Support & Logistics Department , Admin/ HR department

The logistics department in the district office; Personnel/Management Department

  • All NRC staffs and visitors to Area/Field Office

All employees in NRC office and  visitors to NRC office

These are skills, knowledge and experience that are important for effective performance.

Generic professional competencies: 

•     Experience from working as a Guard in a humanitarian/recovery context

restoration; Must have experience as security personnel in humanitarian operations.

•     Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts

Must have previous business experience working in difficult situations.

•     Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities

There must be document information related to this job. 

  • Knowledge about own skills/profile

Must have the necessary knowledge and skills related to the business.

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience: 

  • Good communication skills.

Relationships must be elegant and good

  • Basic or intermediate literacy skill (verbal and written)

Must have basic or intermediate reading and writing skills

  • Enable to support team work.

Must be able to assist in association activities.

  1. Performance Management Performance management
