SCOPE OF INTERN WORK: With oversight from the Switchboard Mental Health and Wellness Training Officer, the Switchboard Intern will support the development and delivery of training and technical assistance including creating customized resource lists, organizing and archiving resource lists, and supporting staff with the creation and delivery of new resources (i.e. webinars, e-learning, online certificate courses, Communities of Practice (CoPs), information guides, blog posts, etc.).
COMMITMENT: 9-10 months, start dates available either spring or fall 2024, 10-20 hours per week
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Support the development of new training and technical assistance resources (i.e. webinars, e-learning, online certificate courses, Communities of Practice (CoPs), information guides, blog posts, etc.).
• Create customized resource lists in response to requests for technical assistance
• Develop a system for organizing and archiving resource lists created by Training Officers and partner organizations
• Where relevant, support project administration by assisting with course enrollment, communications with learners, virtual learning space monitoring and facilitation, photo library archival, etc.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
1. The intern will gain professional experience in the provision of training and technical assistance, including instructional design and resource development.
2. The intern will deepen their understanding of mental health and psychosocial support services in forcibly displaced populations and the US refugee resettlement system
3. The intern will gain experience with methods and technology used to disseminate learning.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Masters degree coursework in psychology, counseling, social work or a related field.
• Very strong organizational and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively distill and present complex information in a concise, accessible way.
• Digital literacy including working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel) and Zoom (this internship is fully remote, so trainee should be comfortable communicating via email, chat and video conference)
• Experience working with refugee populations, in case management or therapeutic settings, or lived experience as a refugee or migrant are preferred, but not required.
This is an unpaid internship position. No financial compensation, including compensation for relocation, is available.
