Mission and objectives
Within UNDP’s Global Policy Network (GPN), the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS) has the responsibility of developing all relevant policy and guidance to support the results of UNDP’s Strategic Plan (2022-2025), i.e. supporting countries to make a difference to millions of lives. BPPS hosts UNDP’s institutional effectiveness work and represents UNDP at multi-stakeholder fora, government and civil society dialogues and engages in UN inter-agency coordination.

Context
The SDG Finance Academy promotes UNDPs sustainable finance services by transferring knowledge internally across its 170 country offices, and to private- and public-sector partners around the world. The e-Learning Programme is open to anyone anywhere and introduces basic concepts of sustainable finance followed by deep dives that will help audiences to align and leverage sustainable finance important for delivering on the SDGs and climate targets.

Over 2000 people have accessed the e-learning modules in English since September 2023 and we need to make them available in more languages to enhance the positive impact.

Translation and Interpretation

Task description
We are looking for an online volunteer to support with translation of the SDG Finance Academy e-Learning Programme’s e-module from English to Arabic.

Current course include:
• Introduction to Sustainable Finance and the SDG Finance Academy

Content for translation includes:
• Text – 4,500 words
• Captions for videos – There are about 10 videos at 3-5 minutes each
• Graphics and images embedded in the module

The selected online volunteers will receive:
• Glossary of finance-related terms in English
• Access to subject-matter experts to confirm translation of technical language
• Guidance on processing translations directly into the software platform,
• Approach for engaging with UNDP colleagues for proof reading translation and other relevant needs.

Requirements
Required experience
• Strong writing and editing skills are required
• Previous editing, translation or proofreading experience is required
• Familiarity with sustainable finance terminology preferred
• Familiarity with e-learning authoring platforms would be an asset
