Job Overview: The Senior Caseworker aids victims and survivors of human trafficking; developing case plans to match individual needs utilizing a range of financial, medical, social, vocational, and other services and resources based on client eligibility. This includes eligibility screening and program enrollment; developing service plans; educating about community services, resources, and legal rights; and helping problem solve to address barriers to success. The Caseworker also participates, as required, in program planning and service development through committees, task forces, and work groups. The Senior caseworker is responsible for all case noting and maintaining case file documentation. The caseworker will also have a role in community outreach activities. The Senior Caseworker operates under moderate supervision with latitude for the use of independent judgment and initiative.

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Act as the primary contact for referrals, and coordinating with case managers to ensure new referrals are contacted within 24 hours to 5 days depending on urgency.
  • Coordinate with donations staff and caseworkers to ensure clients receive needed donations, and caseworkers are aware of available donations.
  • Maintain the organization of the Box folders and ensure all internal trackers are up to date and accurate.
  • Manage onboarding of new interns and caseworkers.
  • Assist with grant reporting on program objectives and accomplishments.
  • Identify new resources and services in the community. Build partnerships and connect clients with coalition members and providers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with various local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. With their assistance, develop safety plans/protocols for VOT clients, staff, and the office.
  • Attend local coalition meetings and participate in coalition events and trainings. 
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding laws, regulations, and local issues relating to human trafficking.
  • Provision of direct, comprehensive case management services to human trafficking survivors to ensure acute needs are met in a timely and culturally appropriate manner for each program participant.
  • Maintain case file documentation including clear and concise case notes reflecting the needs of individual clients and conform to contract requirements.
  • Supervise volunteers and interns associated with the program.
  • Participate in relevant program meetings, staff development activities, and fully engage as a member of the team.
  • Align with all policies, procedures, and protocols of the agency.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Key Working Relationships: 

Position Reports to: Anti-Trafficking Program Manager

Education: A 4-year degree with an emphasis in Social Work or an equivalent field of study is strongly preferred

Work Experience: 

  • Relevant professional experience in social services, humanitarian relief, public service, or other not-for-profit environment; minimum of 2-3 years of experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience working with victims of human trafficking or other vulnerable populations required.
  • Case management and/or victims assistance experience preferred.

Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:

  • Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work as a team member with collaborative partners, the community, and clients in a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). Web based database experience, both with data extraction and design, preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area (home visits, agency visits, service provider visits, etc).
  • Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Proven ability to contribute both independently and as a key team member.
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Individuals with lived experiences of human trafficking are encouraged to apply.

Working Environment: 

  • A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.
  • May require occasional weekend and/or evening work

Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget.  Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
