Through its Strategic Plan in the Country 2023-2026, WFP reinforces its capacity to support public policies through new promotion, communication and higher quality research capabilities, to help influence resource decisions. This strategy contributes to strengthening the capacities of national and subnational institutions to administer food security, disaster risk management and social protection policies and programs.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

WFP is also mandated through the Global Logistics Cluster to complement and coordinate logistics preparedness activities in member countries, in conjunction with participating humanitarian aid agencies before and during large-scale complex emergencies.

In addition, WFP leads the emergency logistics preparation project of the Logistics Cluster in Peru, together with the International expert. They help recognize the logistical limitations in the country with the relevant actors and then implement an action plan that helps overcome them so that the response capacity of humanitarian aid to populations in need can be improved.

KEY ACTIVITIES

  1. Strengthen national logistics capacity in preparation for emergency response, as well as networks of key partners from the government, private, humanitarian and academic sectors;
  2. Ensure alignment with the strategic plan of WFP Peru and the Global strategy of the Logistics Cluster at WFP;
  3. Work with the Global Logistics Cluster Readiness Expert, coordinating logistics readiness initiatives with relevant actors in the country;
  4. Monitoring of the points defined in the Action Plan of the logistics gaps identified in the country;
  5. Provide training to INDECI and other key actors, through workshops, presentations, seminars on emergency preparedness issues;
  6. Guarantee a project closure strategy, upon completion; and
  7. Any other task required by the Representative.

RATINGS

  1. Desirable: University degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, project management or related field or the equivalent combination of education and professional experience;
  2. Desirable: have specializations in Supply Chain, Logistics, Humanitarian Action or similar;
  3. Proficiency in Windows, MS Office and data management systems; and
  4. Knowledge of the English language at an intermediate level

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

  • Possess at least 6 years of professional experience in logistics and supply chain, disaster risk management, project management, civil protection or related areas;
  • Have professional experience in coordination roles linked to project planning and/or management; and
  • Experience working in international humanitarian contexts is desirable.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

World Food Program (WFP) Service Contract (SC) for 6 months with the possibility of renewal. The salary level on the United Nations National Scale for a Service Contract will be SC7.

People hired under SC are considered independent contractors and must provide receipts for fees to pay for their services. 

The fees received by the holders of these contracts are not exempt from personal income tax and, therefore, it is the responsibility of the contracted party to settle before the national authorities the taxes levied on their professional fees, as well as the corresponding payment to the fund. pensions of your choice. WFP is an international organization, it does not act as a withholding agent.
