Job Description

Background/IRC Summary:

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Founded in 1933, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster.

Its External Relations (ER) department was created in early 2020 and is comprised of three complementary functional areas: Private Fundraising, Communications and Advocacy – functions that work together to enhance IRC’s ability to ‘punch above its weight’ in private income, advocacy, and brand awareness. Supporting this endeavor, and an integral part of ER, is the Global Partnerships and Philanthropic Services (GPPS) Unit. GPPS consists of functional specialists across a variety of high-value fundraising functions providing all elements of cultivation, support and stewardship to high value donors, partners, and supporters.

The IRC has an exciting opportunity to join the Funding Proposition & Impact Reporting team within GPPS. This team develops funding and support propositions and impact reports to strengthen the high-value teams and to enhance IRC’s global fundraising and partnerships efforts. By becoming immersed in IRC’s programs, team members can translate that content into compelling donor-friendly language, and individual and blended proposals for financial and non-financial support for IRC’s work.

Job Overview:

The Manager, Flexible Funding position sits within the Editorial Services Team, Program Impact pillar of Global Partnerships and Philanthropic Services (GPPS) and will play a vital role in supporting the production of collateral to raise flexible funding (unrestricted + replacement restricted), including during emergency responses, to grow relationships with key IRC supporters and prospects. The Manager will be responsible for supporting and helping to strengthen a systematic and comprehensive approach to create compelling communications, including appeals, proposals, impact reports, brochures, and other materials. They will collaborate closely with key partners within External Relations, and across the IRC.

  •      Support in the design, implementation, and streamlining of systems that prepares the Editorial Services Team to respond to high-value fundraisers’ needs for core funding propositions and reporting, including during emergency responses;
  •       Work with the Senior Editorial Officer, and other colleagues to conduct research and design content solutions to enhance and evolve donor communications for increased effectiveness over time;

Writing and production

  • Collaborate with assigned high-value (HV) and other colleagues to produce collateral for multiple audiences, as well as custom materials, including concept notes, appeals, and impact reports, which generate critical revenue for the organization;
  • Supports in a surge capacity during high volume periods, particularly at the onset of sudden emergencies, in the production and writing of fundraising materials, particularly assets such as concept notes, two-pagers or proposals
  • Prepare and contribute ideas, materials, and briefings for internal strategy meetings, as needed
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues, program and support staff globally; and
  • Undertake special projects as directed.
