Job Description
INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW: The New Arrival Welcome Intern will focus on providing support and
logistics support to the housing team and newly arrived refugee clients.
COMMITMENT: 10-12 hours per week for 3 months. Weekly schedule to be determined by supervisor and intern.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• With the casework team, coordinate logistics of airport pickups, welcome clients at the airport,
transport them and their luggage to their temporary lodgings.
• Manage welcome team volunteers
• Check clients into temporary lodgings and provide welcome boxes,
• Demonstrate use of cell phones and appliances in the temporary lodgings
• Work with the hotels to meet client needs
• Assist the housing team with other duties to support clients
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
The New Arrival Welcome Intern will gain knowledge about the process of resettling newly arrived refugees.
They will gain skills in logistics, coordination, volunteer and people management. Interns will be given the
opportunity to interact with clients directly and will gain experience in training and cross-cultural
communication.
SUPERVISION: This position is supervised by the Housing Casework team

Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
Required Skills:
• Comfort working independently with diverse populations
• Reliable passenger vehicle, safe driving record, and willingness to provide transportation to adults
and children
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Experience with child car seat installation (or willingness to learn)
Preferred Skills:
Foreign language proficiency
