Mission and objectives
The Jadir Taekwondo Association (AJTKD) is a civil society organization of public interest founded in Rio de Janeiro in 2000. The organization develops sports, cultural, social and environmental projects and has already served more than 7,000 children and young people in situations of social vulnerability. AJTKD’s mission is to provide free access to sports, cultural and social activities for children and young people at social risk. Its main objectives are: • Develop sports, cultural and social projects aimed at children and young people at social risk; • Defend the rights of children and youth; • Promote peace, human rights and citizenship; • Promote drug prevention; • Promote environmental education; • Contribute to health and well-being; • Contribute to gender equality; • Contribute to reducing violence against women.

We believe the unique values and practices of martial arts communities can significantly impact these critical issues. Notably, UNESCO recognizes the cultural significance of martial arts and their potential to contribute to youth development in areas like discipline, respect, and self-confidence. This article aims to:
– Explore the philosophical connections between martial arts principles of respect, discipline, and self-improvement, and the values of environmental stewardship on a global scale.
– Highlight practical applications of how martial arts practices, such as community clean-up events or promoting sustainable training methods, can contribute to environmental protection globally.
– Showcase inspiring examples of martial arts communities taking action on climate change around the world.
By showcasing these connections on a global stage, we hope to inspire and inform martial arts communities worldwide and encourage them to take action for a healthier planet.

Task description
We are seeking two passionate volunteer writers to collaborate on a compelling article exploring the connection between martial arts, environmental protection, and climate action. This article will be published on global platforms to raise awareness and inspire action.
Your responsibilities will include:
– Researching the ways in which martial arts philosophies and practices can contribute to environmental protection and climate action.
– Interviewing martial arts practitioners, environmental experts, or relevant NGOs to gain diverse perspectives for a global audience.
– Collaboratively writing an engaging and informative article (around 1000 words) that is clear, concise, and targets a global audience, considering cultural sensitivity.
– Proofreading and editing the final draft for clarity and flow.
Requirements
Required experience
– Excellent writing and editing skills in English, with strong consideration for cultural sensitivity in a global audience.
– Strong research abilities with a knack for finding credible sources from diverse global perspectives.
– Ability to collaborate effectively with a partner writer.
– Passion for environmental issues and a keen interest in martial arts (experience in martial arts is a plus, but not required).
– Time management skills to meet deadlines effectively.
