CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION
The individual in this position will manage a variety of administrative activities and processes, which requires the ability to analyze, understand and apply standardized guidelines and practices. She will also have supervisory duties, be able to work in an emergency situation and develop/support the unit’s action plan.
RESPONSIBILITIES/OBLIGATIONS:
Under the supervision of the Construction Projects Manager and the direction of the World Food Program (WFP) Haiti, the engineer will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Supervise ongoing construction works carried out by different companies and partners on behalf of WFP in the country office and sub-offices
- Resolve communications problems, interpretation of contract conditions with companies
- Assist in negotiation with local authorities for requests for new concessions
- Conduct field reconnaissance for sources of construction materials and market prices
- Coordinate with contractors to ensure compliance with quality and work schedule
- Prepare mission reports and work progress
- Prepare for certification the bill of quantities of the completed work and submit Construction Project Manager
- Assist the Construction Project Manager in the design of new projects
- Other additional related tasks assigned
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
- Projects organized and managed in the UN HUB – Engineering Section
- Documents in complete files per project – PR, PO, plans
- Project plan for 2024 with technical and budgetary details

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Formation :
Required Skills :
- Diploma or BTS in Civil Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience for a Diploma and 7 years for a BTS
- Good level of oral and written French
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Autocad, Internet and other computer applications
- Knowledge of technical drawing and measurements
- Ability to work in difficult conditions and with limited resources
LANGUAGES :
- Knowledge of English is an advantage
