Scope/Job Description
The ERD Officer is responsible for the implementation of local inclusion programs for vulnerable people on the move, including refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced persons, returnees and migrants, with the aim of applying best practices and providing support in the search for sustainable livelihoods. The position requires strong management skills, training and relationship building skills, as well as a commitment to the IRC mission and values.
Main responsibilities:
- Follow up with clients of the formal labor connection program and the entrepreneurship/self-employment program.
- Review of proposals, interviews and the training and convocation of the self-employment selection committee.
- Follow up with entrepreneurs during the ideation phase.
- Review and provide feedback on business plans.
- Facilitate connections between clients and the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Mexico City, including experts and mentors.
- Responsible for the implementation of workshops to provide information and tools for employability.
- Responsible for providing support for access to documentation necessary for formal employment (RFC, CURP, bank account, etc.).
- Responsible for generating referral channels to improve access to formal employment for clients.
- Responsible for facilitating awareness workshops aimed at companies and private sector organizations to enable better employment opportunities.
- Assist in promotion, client acquisition and project visibility as necessary.
- Support the process of monitoring cash use in the programs.
- Support communications with government organizations and institutions to improve visibility of the program and generate referral pathways to improve care.
- Support in the implementation of emergency programs as required.
- Support the monitoring process for humanitarian assistance through cash.
- Support the process of documenting lessons learned during implementation to formulate future projects.
Qualifications
Qualifications or Requirements
Education and/or technical requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Economic Sciences, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Human Rights or relevant or related fields.
- Verifiable experience of at least 2 years in livelihood/economic development/financial inclusion programs is essential.
- Knowledge of the Mexican labor market is essential.
- Experience working with migrants, refugees or people in vulnerable situations.
- At least 1 year of work experience in implementing cash-based interventions is desirable, as well as monitoring these types of programs from a multi-sector and protection perspective.
- Experience in facilitating technical training and group workshops related to livelihood programs/economic development/cash delivery to people in vulnerable situations and business actors.
- Experience in conducting or implementing surveys, interviews, individual attention to people in vulnerable situations.
- Experience in carrying out events related to entrepreneurship.
Competencies and abilities:
- Intermediate level of a second language is desirable (English, French or Creole, preferred).
- Experience working with partners from the private sector, the financial and/or private sector, and/or migrant populations is essential.
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility.
- Adaptability for teamwork in multicultural environments.
