Job Description

Background/IRC Summary:  

The Syria crisis is often described as the worst humanitarian catastrophe since the end of the Cold War. Today, 13.4 million people in Syria – more than half of the country’s population – are in need of humanitarian assistance with needs increasingly being exacerbated by economic decline. Of these, 6.8 million are refugees and asylum-seekers who have fled the country. This is no short-term humanitarian episode. The devastating human consequences to huge numbers of people will endure for decades. The destruction of relationships, communities, livelihoods, homes and infrastructure will take years to repair.

IRC is offering a robust humanitarian response to the Syria crisis a rapidly expanding portfolio, supported by more than 1000+ staff in Syria Country Program. IRC is undertaking programs in Syria and the neighboring countries of Turkey, Iraq, Lebanon and Jordan in the fields of health, child protection, early childhood development, education, women’s protection and empowerment, non-food items and food distribution, cash assistance, water and sanitation, protection and rule of law, and livelihood programming. Our work in these challenging settings gives rise to some of the most pressing issues facing contemporary humanitarian action, including questions of access, security, funding and coordination.

Job Overview/Summary:

Develop routines to ensure all areas of the IRC Offices and Guest houses in Derek are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.

Responsibilities:

  •  Cleaning the office and guest house during work periods.
  •  Providing drinks to IRC guests.
  •  Unpacking and cleaning garbage baskets in all rooms while keeping desks tidy.
  •  Cleaning bathrooms and sinks.
  •  Wash the floors in the rooms, corridors, kitchen and bathroom and sterilize them periodically in the office and guest house.
  •  Clean dust when necessary.
  •  Inform the supervisor of the missing materials before they are finished, inspect the cleaning materials, and send the request to the supervisor.
  •  Lock or unlock the building securely, if necessary
  •  Change bed covers and pillows in guest houses and wash them well.
  •  Cleaning and washing blankets and sheets in guest houses.
  •  Cleaning and arranging guest houses.
  • Isolating kitchens on a weekly basis in both the office and guest houses
  •  Cleaning balconies and windows on a daily basis.
  • Any additional tasks requested by the supervisor

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • At least One year of progressively responsible professional experience of NGOs
  •  Good communication skills.
  •  Honesty and reliability
  •  Speed and effectiveness in work, focusing on details.
  •  Ability to follow instructions.

Language/Travel:

Arabic (Speaking) is required.

Direct manager: admin assistant

Direct subordinates: none

Indirect manager (if any): Senior Admin Officer

Internal business relations: IRC employees

External business relations.
