Education:
- An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: Information Management or Information Systems, GIS, Information Technologies, Computer Science, or other subject areas relevant to Information Management or to the Cluster Working Group. Two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of a master’s degree.
- Extensive work experience relevant to this post may be considered as a replacement for formal qualifications.
- Formal training in cluster information management an advantage.
Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in information management, data management, geographical information systems, assessments, data analysis with UN and/or NGO including information management in the first phase of a major emergency response relevant to the cluster is required.
- Knowledge and experience in using Adobe and ArcGIS is desirable.
- Proven technical experience in development and use of innovative technology, particularly in the areas of data, humanitarian performance monitoring, use of mobiles and open source, and training in the related field is highly desirable.
- Experience in demonstrating strong information management skills in a professional context is essential for this post.
- Experience working in the humanitarian coordination system is considered an asset.
- Extensive work experience outside the humanitarian sector which is relevant to this post may be considered in lieu of humanitarian experience. Such experience should elicit demonstrated ability to adapt to change, working under pressure & unusual circumstances such as missing data/gaps.
Language Requirements:
Fluency in English and Amharic is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (French, Spanish, Arabic, or Russian) is an asset.
