ABOUT WFP

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Under the supervision of the WFP Nutrition, Public Health and Family Farming Unit Head, the territorial manager will guarantee adequate programmatic management and implementation in the scope of the intervention, ensuring that the commitments made are carried out. according to standards and procedures established by WFP.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – I

The manager is responsible for monitoring the implementation of the actions contemplated in the project intervention proposal and will be in charge of the following activities:

  1. Develop a project work plan based on the situational analysis of maternal and child nutrition in the Ventanilla district, specifically in the scope of the project intervention, which includes all programmatic components;
  2. Provide technical assistance and develop capacity-building processes for local government officials for the planning and implementation of articulated territorial management of effective interventions in child nutrition and community action;
  3. Based on the training needs identified in the situational analysis, lead the processes of strengthening technical and management capacities of public health and nutrition services personnel to implement effective interventions that reduce childhood anemia in the selected areas, ensuring the management of a gender and intercultural approach;
  4. Development of capacity-building processes for the educational community in preschool and primary schools in the area, focused on promoting healthy nutrition practices;
  5. Develop linkage strategies between the local government, local actors and the community to guarantee the implementation of the activities established in the project;
  6. Articulate with social program managers to promote healthy eating practices among their beneficiaries;

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – II

  1. Strengthen the capacities of community agents and social actors to improve access and consumption of varied and nutritious foods for children and pregnant women, adherence to iron supplements and comprehensive care in public health services and social programs;
  2. Provide technical assistance to the Ventanilla Health Network and EESS focused on improving information systems linked to maternal and child nutrition;
  3. In coordination with the WFP Communications Unit, accompany actions related to institutional communication and behavioral change;
  4. Strengthen territorial coordination with the local government and other institutions that are linked to the issue of child nutrition;
  5. Inform the Nutrition, Public Health and Family Farming Unit in a timely manner about possible problems that could affect the implementation of the project or that require immediate attention;
  6. Prepare periodic reports on the activities under your charge, identifying existing problems or trends, and proposing clear recommendations that allow efficient and timely decision-making;
  7. Monitor the progress of the work plan with established indicators;
  8. It will incorporate the organization’s guidelines regarding gender equality and the mainstreaming of protection in all its activities and projects;
  9. Other related tasks/activities assigned by the Representative.

MINIMUM STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidates must be Peruvian nationals;
  • University degree in Nutrition;
  • Postgraduate studies/specialization courses or diplomas in project administration, social management and/or public management and/or public health are desirable.
  • Good command of MS Office computer tools;
  • Desirable command of the English language at a basic level;

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum experience of 5 years in coordination of social projects or development programs, in the field of nutrition/community health with a territorial management focus;
  • Experience of working in urban and peri-urban environments in coordination with local actors;
  • Previous work experience in the government field, private sector, in another agency of the United Nations System, in an NGO or international cooperation agency is desirable; and
  • Previous experience working with regional and/or local public policies is desirable; as well as in government programs and procedures, which implies knowledge about the Peruvian social reality;

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • World Food Program Service Contract (SC) for 6 months, with the possibility of renewal. The salary level on the United Nations National Scale for a Service Contract will be SC5.
  • People hired under SC are considered independent contractors and must provide receipts for fees to pay for their services.  
  • The fees received by the holders of these contracts are not exempt from personal income tax and, therefore, it is the responsibility of the contracted party to settle before the national authorities the taxes levied on their professional fees, as well as the corresponding payment to the fund. pensions of your choice. The WFP is an international organization, it does not act as a withholding agent.
