Background and Organizational Context
The Volunteer Solutions Section (VSS) develops policies and solutions to support the mobilization of UN Volunteers and Online Volunteers across the UN system. VSS is responsible for providing robust and innovative volunteer service offers to the UN system, including consolidated volunteer types and categories, policies, talent acquisition (sourcing to recruitment) and volunteer engagement and management expertise. VSS works in close collaboration with all UNV units (headquarters, Regional Offices, and Field Units) to provide relevant products and tools to support volunteer mobilization.
Position Purpose

The Programme Analyst, Volunteer Solutions and Knowledge Management reports to the Programme Specialist, Onsite-Online Volunteer Solutions, and supports the UNV volunteer offer refinement as well as corporate knowledge management on volunteer solutions S/he works in close collaboration with the Regional Offices and Field Units, New York Office, Volunteer Services Centre, and other relevant subject matter experts and external stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. UN Volunteer solutions refinement and management
  • Coordinate and implement the actions plan based on the findings of the UNV category evaluation and the Online Volunteering service review.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders for the implementation of management decisions on UNV solutions.
  • Support the monitoring of UNV solutions usage to identify areas for enhancement.
  • Support the implementation of solutions’ quality assurance measures to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Develop and adjust specific solutions’ business processes, tools and systems’ functionalities, in coordination with relevant UNV sections.
  • Coordinate the development and refinement of UNV categories strategy, business processes, tools and systems in coordination with relevant UNV sections.
  • Provide technical guidance to Regional Offices, Field Units and the NYO on the UNV solutions offer, including on online volunteering mainstreaming, and consistency and compliance globally.
  • Monitor the quality of advertised assignments and provide input for improvement
2. Knowledge Management and dissemination
  • Identify, curate and organize information related to UN Volunteer types and categories’ best practices, resources and other relevant information.
  • Disseminate relevant solutions information systematically and strategically within UNV;
  • Regularly update and train UNV personnel on UN Volunteer category-related lessons and changes through workshops, trainings and other activities.
  • Support in the planning, design, execution and monitoring of the volunteer knowledge management intranet, tools and initiatives.
  • Any other related tasks as delegated by the Supervisor or Section Chief

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
  • Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in human resources, business administration, or related fields.
  • A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in combination with an additional two years of qualifyingexperience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree
Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years (with master’s degree) or 4 years (with bachelor’s degree) of relevant work experience in HR and/or administration management, coordination and/or related field;
  • Experience in MS Office 365;
  • Knowledge of the conditions of service of the UN Common System or of international organizations would be an asset;
  • Experience with online volunteering would be an asset;
  • Experience working in web-based management systems would be an asset; 
  • Experience working with volunteers would be an asset.
  • Fluency in English
  • Proficiency in another official UN language would be an asset.
