 Functional Responsibilities

Under the direction and supervision of the Head of the technical unit of Radio Okapi, the Studio Technician will perform the following tasks:

  • Ensure all technical operations essential to the broadcast of radio and video broadcasts;
  • Broadcast Radio Okapi broadcasts on FM, Internet, DSTV and digital platforms according to pre-established standards;
  • Anticipate and listen to sounds and/or videos in advance before broadcasting them;
  • Provide sound for section events outside the studio;
  • Ensure recordings of radio and video broadcasts in the studios and outside the studio;
  • Ensure level 1 maintenance of broadcasting equipment, mixing desk, compressor, microphones, recorders, cameras, etc.;
  • Record and edit antenna graphics (jingles, carpets, promos, etc.);
  • Ensure the proper functioning of transmitters;
  • Provide technical assistance to services related to the planning, implementation and maintenance of broadcasting projects;
  •  Participate in the development of specifications for the purchase of equipment; recommend technical improvements to hardware and software to improve service delivery;
  • Carry out other related activities related to radio and video programming technique.
 Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education:

  • Holding a Bachelor’s degree in electronics, computer science or a similar field is required,
  • A graduate diploma with two (2) additional years in electronics, computer science or similar field may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Training in photography, video and audio editing, or other relevant field is desirable.

Experience:

  • Having at least four (4) years of professional experience acquired progressively in responsibility in audiovisual studios for broadcasting live programs/broadcasts and production, reporting, IT is required.
  • Having two (2) years of experience in acoustics, sound professional in the field or studio is required
  • Having mastery of technology tools and the ability to install and configure programs, broadcasting software and editing software such as: Office 365, Cool Edit, Adobe Audition, Simian, Selector, Adobe Première Pro, OBS Studio is desirable ,
  • Good skills in producing video content is desirable,

Language:

  • Fluency in the French language is required,
  • Knowledge of English would be an advantage.
