Context
UNDP – Nature for Development team is looking for 2 online volunteers to support the proofreading of a template NBSAP Target Similarity Assessment in French and Spanish. The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) aims to guide action to conserve biodiversity, promote the sustainable use of its components, and ensure the fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising out of the utilization of genetic resources. National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) are the main policy instrument for implementation of the CBD at the national level and contain national biodiversity targets that contribute towards the Convention. The NBSAP Target Similarity Assessment is meant to serve as a guiding resource that Parties may wish to consider as they take early action to align national biodiversity targets within NBSAPs with those in the Kunming‐Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Once translated, the template will be used to provide customized assessments to 69 countries.

Translation and Interpretation

Task description
The two online volunteers will provide support to the project team with the proofreading the translation of a summary report on biodiversity target alignment. Tasks will include liaising with the core team via email and proofreading a document of about 60 pages length each in French and Spanish. They will also ensure that the translated terms are consistent across the document and in line with a provided terms list. The online volunteers will have the opportunity to build connections with the Nature for Development team at UNDP, as well as learn about the ways in which target alignment can support achieving the objectives of the Global Biodiversity Framework.

Requirements
Required experience
Candidates must be fluent in English. Fluency in Spanish and/or French is highly desirable. Experience in translation is an asset. He/she must be responsive via email and willing to work with a team of other UNVs.
