 Functional Responsibilities

(1) Project Management Intern (start date asap until July 2024):Under the guidance of the Programme Management Senior Officer, the Project Management intern will:

  • Provide general operational assistance to the Global Gathering project management team working on various projects and activities.
  • Assist with administrative support, including scheduling of meetings, taking meeting minutes and preparing briefing notes
  • Support efforts related to the event management – including preparing and dispatching invitation letters
  • Support the management of event registrations, participant queries, and attendee communications.
  • Support with data management systems including regular updates of key documents in liaison with the different Global Gathering working groups.
  • Collaborating with various teams and stakeholders to ensure the seamless execution of event logistics.
  • Participate in the on-site event coordination, encompassing setup, registration, and attendee engagement.
  • Participate in post-event activities, including data collection, feedback analysis, and post-event reporting.
  • Other tasks required or assigned by the Project Management Team.

(2) Communications Interns (start date asap until July 2024 with possibility of extension up to 12 months): 

Under the guidance of the Communications Analyst, the Communications intern will:

  • Provide general assistance to the Communications Analyst  and Global Gathering team on various projects and activities.
  • Support the liaison of external vendors, including support to the planning and oversight of requests and deliverables, and ensuring applicability of SUN standards: translators, copy editors, graphic designers, web developers.
  • Assist with administrative support, including scheduling of meetings, taking meeting minutes and preparing briefing notes
  • Support efforts related to event management – including preparing and dispatching invitation letters, assisting with organization, implementation of and follow up to events, briefings, video/audio conference calls and webinars
  • Support with data management systems including regular updates of key documents, audiovisual assets and contact databases.
  • As advised by the Communications Analyst, support communications and outreach activities, updating the website and social media channels, drafting monthly newsletters.
  • Other communication and administrative related tasks  required are assigned  by  the  unit.


(3) MEAL and KM Intern (start date asap for 12 months):

The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) and Knowledge Management (KM)  intern will work under the direct supervision of the Programme Management Senior Officer. The intern will:

  • Knowledge Capture and Documentation: Assist in capturing and documenting knowledge related to nutrition interventions, best practices, and lessons learned within the SUN Movement countries and stakeholders.
  • Work closely with team members to compile and organize relevant information to develop SUN country stories.
  • Support the development of content for knowledge-sharing platforms.
  • Collaborate with programmatic teams to transform technical information into accessible and engaging content.
  • Manage the knowledge database, ensuring that information is up-to-date, accurate, and easily accessible.
  • Coordinate with different stakeholders to gather and consolidate information for knowledge management purposes.
  • Assure representation of all SUN countries within the knowledge sharing platform.
  • Other Knowledge management related tasks  required are assigned  by  the  unit

(4) Resource Mobilization and Partnerships Intern:

Under the guidance of the Resource Mobilisation Advisor, the Resource Mobilisation and Partnerships intern will:

  • Prepare pre-meeting documentation, arrange meeting logistics, take meeting notes, and communicate with participants in support of the Partnerships, Finance, and Network (PFN) Relations team.
  • Conduct desk research and develop work plans, briefing notes, and presentations in support of PFN areas of work (including nutrition links to climate, food systems, and gender.)
  • Conduct desk research on current and prospective SUN donors to populate and update donor briefs, including bilateral donors as well as multilateral financing mechanisms for nutrition.
  • Update donor tracker spreadsheet after each donor meeting, based on meeting notes.
  • Support the development and update of PFN sections of the scalingupnutrition.org website.
  • Other relevant functional related duties as assigned

Training components and learning elements

The incumbent will have access to project and portfolio documentation to learn about project management and development cooperation in the areas the portfolio covers. She/he has the opportunity to join official meetings and learn about UNOPS, and the UN, and multilateral cooperation. She/he will get exposure to key stakeholders, multi-partner donors, international non-governmental organizations and other representatives.

The incumbent will also have full access to UNOPS intranet, Google Currents/Communities of Practice (COPs) in Project Management, Gender Mainstreaming, Innovation and Research, Sustainable Infrastructure, etc.

 Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education:

The applicant must be enrolled in a university programme, such as a Bachelor, Masters, or Ph.D. (or equivalent) or have graduated from such studies within three (3) years prior to the applications date of the internship

Experience:

Professional work experience is not required for this internship.

The  following  experience  will be  an asset:

    • Prior work experience is an asset
    • Experience with prioritization of  tasks and strong commitment to teamwork and results is  desirable.
    • Good organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines is  desired
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal is desired
Language:
  • Fluency in written and oral English required for all internship positions.
  • Fluency in written and oral French or Spanish is required for the Project Management and Communication internship positions.
  • Working knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.
