  1. Role and responsibilities

NRC’s Livelihoods and Food Security programming works to improve food security, access to livelihood opportunities and strengthen the resilience of vulnerable households affected by conflict and displacement in West Ukraine. In line with this objective, the groups targeted for assistance will include IDPs, returnees and non-displaced people.

The purpose of the LFS technical assistant position is to assist the Livelihoods and Food Security team in the day-to-day activity implementation, conducting field visits to the targeted areas in west Ukraine, meeting and interviewing the project participants, conducting data collection and contributing to improve the project quality.

Generic responsibilities 

  1. Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines.
  2. Implement delegated LFS project portfolio according to plan of action
  3. Ensure proper archiving of all field information and filing of documents
  4. Promote and share ideas for technical improvement
  5. Responsible for organization and delivery of tasks in line with priorities and standards assigned
  6. Use initiative in day-to-day problem-solving in line with agreed procedures, priorities and standards for the area of work
  7. Ensure that the security plan and procedure is adhered to in all operations, including staff ‎movements, etc

Specific responsibilities 

 

  • Provide input in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of food security, and livelihoods activities.
  • Identification of project participants for different activities as per agreed criteria and processes
  • Supervise the data collectors implementing LFS activities on a daily basis.
  • Preparation of procurement requests for required project activities and materials when needed.
  • Implementation of LFS activities under the guidance of the project coordinator.
  • Conduct community engagement meetings with project participants and community on project interventions and collect and report feedback from the community.
  • Assist the LFS project coordinator in the planning, design and implementation of assessments and surveys when needed
  • Liaise with the data entry and database team on archiving of project technical documents and project data(project participant lists, registration data, baselines/end lines, PDM and other relevant data)
  • Provide regular updates to the LFS coordinator on the progress of project implementation and challenges for support in the field
  • Ensure that LFS activities are implemented in accordance with local regulations and in coordination with local authorities
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Critical interfaces

By interfaces, NRC means processes and projects that are interlinked with other departments/units or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position are:

  • Project planning and implementation:  LFS team, LFS Coordinator, LFS Project Manager, Finance, Logistics and Security departments
  • M&E: Data Entry/database officer, CFM, and M&E team.
  • External stakeholders; local authorities and stakeholders e.g. investment offices, coordination centres, employment centres, NGOs and other humanitarian actors
  1. Competencies

1. Professional competencies 

Generic professional competencies: 

  • University degree, preferably in economy, social sciences, agriculture, agro-economy, development studies or other relevant discipline.
  • Proven experience working in a humanitarian/recovery context.
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively to the field.
  • Skills in solving problems is highly desired
  • Responsibility, independence, attentiveness, ability to handle stress, diligence, and attention to detail.

Context-related skills, knowledge, and experience

  • Solid knowledge of Ukraine context.
  • Strong analytical skills with a critical-thinking mindset
  • Good computer skills.
  • Fluency in Ukrainian language with an intermediate level English language.
