Key Duties and Accountabilities:

Coordination

  • Assist the Head of sub-office in implementing the humanitarian coordination structure, strategy, and policy; Assist in establishing and maintaining partnerships with other humanitarian agencies in order to plan and evaluate assistance programmes activities, including gender-related considerations.
  • Work closely with sub-sectors, attend sector meetings, coordinate and provide technical support;
  • Under the supervision of the Head of sub-office, support coordinating the development of humanitarian response/preparedness plans;
  • Assist in the establishment and maintenance of contacts with other UN agencies, non-governmental organizations and relevant government counterparts in the area of responsibility;
  • Help establish, consolidate and maintain a database of information on Who is doing What and Where;
  • Assist in developing provincial profiles Organize, participate and/or assist in organizing work groups, meetings, conferences, consultations with other agencies and partners on humanitarian and emergency relief-related matters.
  • Monitor humanitarian situation and produce daily, weekly and monthly updates and reports, as necessary

Needs Assessments

  • Organize and participate in needs assessments missions and draft assessment/missions report,
  • analyze outcome and specify unmet requirements.
  • Assist in establishing appropriate monitoring and reporting mechanisms for assessments outcomes;
  • Perform other duties as required.

Impact of Results:

Assist the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, in identifying significant humanitarian issues, Develop well-reasoned, innovative suggestions and approaches to problem resolution. Help meet organizational objectives and provide sound analytical inputs and advice with respect to coordination of humanitarian action.

Data collection: Being skilled in Data Sorting, Data Cleaning, Survey Administration, Presentation and Reporting including collection of Real-Time Data (e.g. mobile data, satellite data, sensor data). 

 

Required Skills and Experience

Education 

  • A minimum of High school Certificate.

Or,

  • First-level university degree in (BA Degree or equivalent) in Economics, Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Sciences, or related field will be given due consideration, but it is not a requirement.

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

  • A minimum of seven (7) years (high School) or four (4) years (First-level university degree – Bachelor) of experience in the field in coordination of humanitarian or development programmes and project management is required.
  • Relevant field experience in humanitarian coordination, preparedness and response in emergency situations (complex emergency and/or natural disaster) is highly desirable.
  • More than 5 Years of practical professional experience in any or more of following domains: coordination, humanitarian affairs, project management and preparedness and response in emergency situations (complex emergency and/or natural disaster) with INGOs and/or UN agencies is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience in reporting and data analysis is an asset.
  • Working experience in Aleppo Governorate is highly desirable

Languages

  • Fluency in Written and Spoken Arabic and English are required.
