Mission and objectives
UNDP’s Global Programme on Nature for Development brings together three different initiatives under one program – the Equator Initiative, the National Biodiversity Initiative, and the Global Forest Initiative – in order to identify, foster, showcase and celebrate nature-based solutions that help achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at local, national and international levels. The work of the Global Programme on Nature for Development contributes to UNDP’s Strategic Plan 2014-2017 by charting sustainable development pathways through the conservation, restoration and sustainable management of biodiversity and ecosystems; and by promoting inclusive and effective democratic governance in the area of natural resources.
Context
UNDP – Nature for Development team is looking for 2 online volunteers to support the proofreading of a publication in French and Spanish entitled “Gender Equality, Women’s Empowerment, and Leadership in National Biodiversity Planning and Reporting”. The publication seeks to shed light on trends in the capacities of countries to mainstream gender during the development of national biodiversity policy, monitoring, and reporting systems related to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). The publication explores gender-related capacity gaps and provides entry points to support countries as they work towards developing gender-responsive biodiversity policies. These entry points are illuminated by case studies of small-scale conservation and sustainable development projects. Countries can use these entry points to help advance the CBD Gender Plan of Action and take more effective early action to implement the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
