Core responsibilities
- Conduct literature reviews as well as desk research for pre-assessment of areas.
- Lead in the detailed planning of data gathering activities in coordination with the Project Coordinator, Operational Consultant, and MEAL Officer.
- Support the design and pilot of data collection instruments, such as survey questionnaires and interview guides. Operationalize the deployment of these tools, ensuring that they are used effectively and efficiently.
- Conduct surveys, focus group discussions, interviews, and gathering of secondary data.
- Conduct data quality checks to ensure data integrity.
- Facilitate data management, ensuring proper data privacy and ethics.
- Clean and analyse qualitative and quantitative data.
- Assist the Operational Consultant in writing and finalizing the inception report and final research output.
- Provide training or coaching for Field Assistants and support recruitment, training, and management of contracted field data collectors and data encoders as needed.
- Provide technical and operational assistance to the project team in the dissemination of research findings and development of knowledge products.
- Assist in the preparation of periodic progress reports, and other documentation requirements for internal and external reporting.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of project Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) activities in coordination with the MEAL Officer.
- Provide advice to the Program Management team when consulted regarding analysis inquiries and clarifications.
Main qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in any social science, economics, public policy, development studies or other related fields.
- Knowledge of IHL or International Human Rights Law (IHRL) is a distinct asset.
Work experience
- At least 3 years’ professional experience with research projects and/or data analysis.
- Experience with research topics related to armed conflict or projects in conflict-affected communities is an advantage.
Technical skills:
- Knowledge and experience with research methods.
- Ability to perform quantitative and qualitative analysis for research. Experience with analysis platforms such as SPSS, STATA, or PowerBI is an advantage.
- Strong writing skills to prepare, review and edit progress reports and research outputs.
- Proficiency in the use of digital/computer software, at least with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Languages
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to communicate effectively in Filipino.
- Fluency in Cebuano, Hiligaynon, Surigaonon and/or Waray would be an asset.
Qualifications

- Ability to manage relationships with partners and stakeholders.
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
