RESPONSIBILITIES
Generic responsibilities
- Ensure daily planning, implementation and monitoring of relevant projects and activities in accordance with proposals, strategies, contractual commitments, donor requirements and the best interest of targeted communities.
- Strengthen coordination between affected communities, government authorities and humanitarian partners through active engagement in coordination mechanisms at the request of the education coordinator.
- Provide the education coordinator with technical information related to the implementation of education activities based on daily experience of program execution.
- Ensure accurate and transparent record keeping relating to project implementation in all aspects related to finances, logistics and program monitoring.
- Support the Education Coordinator to ensure high technical quality, contextual relevance and integration in project implementation.
- Regularly share key lessons learned with the education coordinator.
- Support educational technical assistants in the planning and execution of their work, as well as their technical abilities.
- Ensure positive representation of NRC in any external engagement, including in the implementation of daily activities.
- Promote the rights of children, youth, refugees and other vulnerable affected populations throughout the project cycle.
- Ensure compliance and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures.
Specific responsibilities
- Ensure daily planning, implementation and monitoring of youth projects and activities in accordance with proposals, strategies, contractual commitments, donor requirements and the best interests of targeted communities.
- Under the direction of the Education Coordinator, work closely with internal NRC colleagues to ensure effective and timely coordination of financial, logistical and security procedures.
- Report to the Education Coordinator on all activities related to youth programming and other appropriate duties as assigned by the Coordinator.
- Contribute to maintaining positive relationships with local education stakeholders (including government authorities, humanitarian coordination mechanisms, partner organizations and agencies and community structures).
- Visit project sites frequently to monitor activities, provide field guidance and support, and assess new and current needs.
- Contribute to the preparation of timely and accurate reports in accordance with internal NRC requirements and relevant donor requirements, as requested by the Education Coordinator.
- Provide ongoing support to Education Technical Assistants and act as Education Coordinator in their absence.
- Ensure consideration of vulnerable demographic groups, including girls/women, boys/men, persons with disabilities and refugees/returnees/host community members, throughout the project cycle, by adopting, in whenever possible, a participatory or youth-led approach.
- Coordinate with other NRC technical sectors (core competencies) to develop and implement integrated programs to best meet the needs of the communities receiving support.
QUALIFICATIONS
Professional experience and skills:
- At least 2 years of experience in an area of technical expertise in humanitarian contexts
- Experience working in complex and unstable contexts
- Documented results related to position responsibilities
- Fluency in Arabic, both written and spoken
- Good knowledge of English or French, written and spoken
- Understanding of the context of Chad and Sudan, particularly eastern Chad and the Darfur region of Sudan.
- Ability to engage effectively with diverse populations in sensitive contexts.
