Mission and objectives
Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leadingUN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental andnon-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for thebenefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Context
In 2017, the Staff Development & Learning (SDL) started testing of courses developed by both internal and external providers which were uploaded into IOM’s Learning Management Systems (LMS). SDL receives a huge amount of request for publishing of courses into the LMS. In 2020, SDL tested 268 modules. With the current situation, requests for technical testing of courses have increased due to the demand for publishing more courses in LMS. This increase in the workload of each of the individual colleagues in SDL as there is no dedicated individual to carry out the tasks. Instead, testing is done by members of the team on top of their other duties and priorities.
The main objective of this assignment is to seek the support of online volunteers to conduct testing of the technical functions of courses including volume, hyperlinks, buttons, course progress status, course map/table of content, activities or exercises, animations or videos, voice-over or subtitle and transcript status are working before publishing in IOM’s Learning Management System as the SDL team will have other tasks to prioritize aside from the testing of courses. The online volunteer will only test the technical side of the courses to ensure it is fully functional in our LMS.
