Duties and Responsibilities

Managing the Youth Empowerment Alliance (YEA) and the Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Capacity Building Programme

  • Develop strategic partnerships with YEA stakeholders, proactively engaging potential collaborators, and nurturing impactful relationships.
  • Mobilize partnerships and resources to support the UNDP Youth Portfolio at both national and regional level.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and management of the regional youth entrepreneurship ecosystem capacity-building programme for the Youth Empowerment Portfolio in APAC, emphasizing enhancing accessibility for underserved youth.
  • Advance Diversity Equity and Inclusion within the youth entrepreneurship ecosystem through organizing ecosystem knowledge exchange gatherings, strategic workshops, and the oversight of knowledge product development.
  • Provide technical assistance to UNDP country offices in the consolidation of donor inputs to pilot national youth entrepreneurship ecosystem capacity-building initiatives (national YEA programs).
  • Support team members on regular YEA reporting, evaluation, communications, project visibility and knowledge products.

Establishing and Maintaining Partnerships

  • Develop outreach materials such as briefs, pitches, proposals and presentations.
  • Conduct due diligence, prepare financing agreement, MoU and other relevant documents.
  • Develop new initiatives which engage external stakeholders (Innovation Challenge, Youth Innovation Grant, the crowdfunding platform, and other start-up support initiatives.).
  • Facilitate seamless communication channels among regional partners and country offices, fostering collaboration and synchronization.

Country Office Programme Coordination

  • Coordinate the inputs of UNDP Bangkok Regional Hub, UNDP Country offices and other implementing partners into the agenda, and coordinate the implementation of the regional youth project at the national level.
  • Coordinate with UNDP Country Offices on partnership development and delivery at the national level.
  • Provide advisory support to country offices on strategic youth project partnership development.

Support to Design and Implement Start-up Financing Initiatives

  • Support regional team to develop start-up financing offerings (Youth Social Innovation Grant, crowdfunding, etc.).
  • Support to design and coordinate Innovation Challenge.

Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in development studies, business administration, social/political sciences, international relations, or other related expertise areas is required, or
  • A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in the areas mentioned above in combination with additional 2 years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of Master´s degree.
Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years (with master’s degree) or 4 years (with bachelor’s degree) of experience in developing and managing partnerships, especially with private sector and foundations for the youth empowerment agenda.
  • Previous experience in conducting due diligence, preparing partnerships proposals and developing partnership agreements for partners etc. is an asset Prior experience in development agencies is an asset.
  • At least 2 years of experience in managing cross-sectoral alliance of partners for development agencies is an asset.
  • Demonstrable experience in designing and implementing capacity building programme for ecosystem stakeholders, e.g., incubators and accelerators in Asia-Pacific, and preparing evaluation report capturing programme impact is an asset.
  • Previous experience in coordinating and producing external communications materials (e.g., websites and videos) to showcase partnerships is an asset.
  • Successful track record of designing and organizing social innovation/entrepreneurship events (Asia-Pacific and China)
  • Previous experience in developing or coordinating innovative financing platforms for startups, such as crowdfunding platforms is an asset.
  • Demonstrating a good understanding of youth empowerment agenda and youth social entrepreneurship landscape in Asia Pacific (Previous research experience/projects mapping experience in youth empowerment in Asia-Pacific preferred).
  • Full computer literacy in Microsoft Office programmes i.e., MS-Word, MS-Excel and MS-Power Point; Proficiency in graphic design and video editing software is a plus i.e., Photoshop, Premiere, etc.
  • Communications and social media skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse teams.
  • Good writing skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet targets in a tight deadline.

Required Languages:

  • Fluent in English and Chinese is required.
