The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is a United Nations agency responsible for infrastructure, procurement, and project management (General Assembly Resolution 65/176 of 2010). Our mission is to help people improve their lives and countries achieve peace and sustainable development. UNOPS’ three priority areas are:
i) Sustainable Infrastructure: UNOPS designs, builds, repairs, and maintains infrastructure in some of the world’s most challenging environments. Its activities focus on infrastructure development in transport, education, and health, among other areas.
ii) Public Procurement: UNOPS is a central procurement resource for the United Nations system and Governments. It emphasizes efficient, transparent, and sustainable delivery of goods and services.
iii) Project management: UNOPS manages more than a thousand humanitarian, development and peacebuilding projects each year for various partners, ensuring quality, effectiveness and results that meet the highest standards.
UNOPS’s work seeks environmental, social, and economic sustainability, which contributes to progress in equity and the common good in the countries where it operates, thus promoting the improvement of the living conditions of the most needy. UNOPS is present in 23 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. Its services, products, and technical assistance comply with the public administration principles of transparency, equity, integrity, free competition, impartiality, morality, effectiveness, efficiency, and respect for national institutions.
Education
- You must be currently enrolled in your final semester or a graduate of a Business Administration, Accounting, or related degree.
- A university degree or professional technical degree with a maximum of three (3) years of graduation will be valued at the time of application.
- It does not require providing professional experience.
- Availability of 40 hours per week is required.
It will be highly valued:
- Have completed other internships or volunteer work in international organizations, NGOs, preferably in a support area such as: finance, administration, accounting and/or logistics
- Skills in handling GSuite, Microsoft, spreadsheets.
- Skills for document management (administrative and financial), archiving, coding, safeguarding information.
Languages
- Spanish language (oral and written) is required.
- Knowledge of the English language (oral and written) will be valued.
Work environment
- This internship is paid and provides health insurance.
- As a UNOPS intern, you will have access to the organization’s learning platform to take courses that interest you.
- This role will be held at the UNOPS Peru Office, currently located in Lima.
- The work is 100% in-person, 5 days a week (Monday-Friday)
- The office does not have parking space for employees.
