POSITION SUMMARY:
HIAS Kenya seeks to recruit a knowledgeable agricultural advisor to guide the HIAS Accommodation Centre on effective and sustainable smart farming.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide technical guidance and training on best practices and the use of new agricultural technologies including Urban farming technologies
- Assessing soil and crops, and providing advice on the best farming practices
- Advising HAC on crop selection based on soil, weather, and market conditions
- Recommending suitable agricultural products like fertilizers and pest control measures
- Advise on pest and disease control, post-harvest handling, and natural resource conservation
- Preparing reports and keeping updated records.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- A Degree in agriculture or related course.
- Extensive knowledge of agricultural science, including crop management, and a keen interest in research and development
- Experience in smart farming
- Knowledge of Accountability to Affected Populations.
- Knowledge of PSEA.
