Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
- Sapling Cultivation:
- Oversee the planting, care, and growth of saplings.
- Monitor soil conditions, irrigation, and fertilization to ensure optimal sapling development.
- Conduct regular health checks, identifying and managing any diseases or pests.
- Implement propagation techniques to enhance sapling growth and yield.
- Maintain accurate records of sapling progress, growth cycles, and production levels.
- Wheat Seed Cultivation:
- Supervise the wheat seed cultivation process, from planting to harvest.
- Ensure proper seed selection and quality control at all stages of wheat cultivation.
- Monitor soil fertility, irrigation, and pest management to maintain healthy wheat crops.
- Collaborate with farmers or field workers to manage planting schedules and harvest timelines.
- Conduct seed testing to assess viability and germination rates, ensuring high-quality wheat seeds.
- Vegetable Seed Cultivation:
- Manage the cultivation and processing of vegetable seeds, including tomatoes, peppers, and other high-demand crops.
- Ensure effective crop rotation and soil management practices to maintain crop health.
- Oversee the harvesting and collection of vegetable seeds, ensuring cleanliness and quality standards.
- Develop strategies to optimize seed cultivation yields while minimizing environmental impact.
- Advise on pest control, irrigation, and fertilization practices specific to vegetable crops.
- Training and Support:
- Provide technical support and training to field staff, farmers, and other stakeholders on agronomic best practices.
- Organize workshops and seminars to educate staff on the latest advancements in crop management and seed cultivation.
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with agricultural regulations, environmental standards, and safety protocols.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports on crop performance, seed cultivation, and any challenges encountered during the growing season.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment with company objectives and overall goals.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, or Agriculture Extension.
- At least 4–5 years of progressively responsible work experience in similar roles, focusing on food security, nutrition, livelihoods, agricultural extension, value chain, and marketing projects with INGOs or NGOs.
- Experience in agricultural marketing and business linkages, field-level extension activities, and the delivery of training programs. Additionally, training received in related agricultural subjects is required.
- Proven experience in developing agriculture/horticulture-based training curricula, agricultural value chains, marketing strategies, and business development.
- Experience in facilitating agricultural extension methodologies, particularly with Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and demonstrated experience in participatory research and technology development, including the use of demonstration farms.
- A strong understanding of research and survey methodologies, including designing and implementing food security and nutrition surveys, value chain studies, and market assessments.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English, Pashto, and Dari, with strong skills in report writing.
