Red Cross – Red Crescent movement is the largest volunteer organization in the world. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) is a national society of the movement, constituted on 31 March 1973 by the President’s Order No. 26 of 1973 with retrospective effect from 16 December 1971. This is the biggest humanitarian organization in Bangladesh. As an auxiliary to the government, the Society provides humanitarian assistance to the vulnerable people over the last 50 years and has undertaken a wide range of activities in humanitarian response, disaster management, health, capacity building and in promoting Red Cross/ Red Crescent ideals and principles. BDRCS in collaboration with the IFRC is implementing the Governance, Readiness to Response, Institutional and Community Preparedness in Southeast Bangladesh (GRIP) project across Sub-districts of Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. Therefore, BDRCS has initiated the hiring process in order to support the implementation of the project.
Job title: Assistant Project Officer
Duration of contract: 12 months (Possibility to extend based on performance).
Salary: BDT 50,000.00 to 55,000.00 BDT/Month
Age: 36 years maximum (age limit will be relaxed in case of potential candidate).
Duty station: Field Level (Cox’s Bazar Sadar, and Kutubdia Sub-district)

Purpose of the position:
The Assistant Project Officer will be primarily responsible for the implementation of the GRIP project activities in Southeast Bangladesh under the supervision of Project Officer (PO). She/he will coordinate with field-based staff and community mobilizers to execute the planned actions.

Roles and Responsibility:
- Ensure timely and effective implementation of community-level activities including other assigned tasks from supervisor.
- Effective mobilization and mentoring to Community facilitators, volunteers, and community-level activities implementation relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor and mentor regular basis of field activities and provide feedback to the supervisor to address findings properly.
- Closely coordinate and supervise all GRIP program activities at the community level and school level.
- In consultation with the Project Officer, act as the link and liaison between the Project Implementation Committee (PIC) and local Community Disaster Management Committees (DMC).
- Assist and prepare monthly work plan of Community Organizers-COs & Community Facilitators-CFs and their monthly progress & event reports etc.
- Prepare monthly action plans, progress reports, event reports, data-based reports, etc.
- Special day observation like Red Cross Red Crescent, NDPD, IDDR, Environment Day, and others as required.
- Provide guidance and supervision to the Community Organizer/Facilitator for smooth implementation.
- Organize all trainings, workshops, awareness campaigns, and community meetings as per the timeline in the plan of action.
- Prepare a presentation on the progress status and share it with coordination meetings and relevant events.
- Implement small-scale DRR mitigation Software and hardware activities in coordination with local-level DMC members, teachers, and relevant stakeholders throughout communities and schools.
- Closely coordinate to arrange WDMC, and UDMC meetings and DRR events regular basis and maintain liaison with relevant stakeholders e.g. CPP, NGOs, and Government officials as required.
- Arrange and facilitate various enhanced capacity and awareness-raising events on DRR at the community level.
- Maintain the attendance register, movement register, and vehicle logbooks properly.
- Assist the Finance, Admin, and Program Support Assistant in preparing all bills/vouchers and adjustments.
- Always work towards the promotion of RCRC principles and humanitarian values in the communities
- Undertake any other appropriate duties that may be required by the BDRCS authority.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Support and prepare the documents of the program activities attendance sheet, Goods and food distributions sheet, Master roll, files, records, archives, and databases and update when required.
- Support in developing monthly, quarterly, and annual accomplishment reports of the GRIP Program.
Person Specification: Education and experience:
- Master’s Degree in Disaster Management, Environmental Science, Development Studies, Social Science, or related discipline
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in managing Disaster Risk Management programs (Working experience in the Cox`s Bazar area will be preferred).
- Knowledge on project cycle, assessments, implementation, monitoring, and planning.
Skills and abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and staff management skills.
- Good facilitation presentation, and communication skills.
- Sound analytical and influencing skills.
- Strong initiative and self-motivated, with a strong commitment to humanitarian principles
- Strong communication skills in both verbal and written English and Bangla
- Computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
