About the project:

UNOPS implements various projects in Peru and is currently in the process of closing the Technical Assistance project under the Resource Management modality for the project “Comprehensive Improvement of the Cultural Heritage Interpretation Service through the Creation of the National Museum of Peru in the District of Lurín, Province of Lima, Department of Lima.” 

The UNOPS Multi-Country Office in Peru will carry out activities in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture for the orderly completion of the project. The Engineering Associate will support the Project Manager in day-to-day operations for the orderly closure of the project in the areas of planning and document monitoring, construction contract management and supervision of works, technical monitoring on site and preparation of project management documents in the area of ​​contract management.The Associate will perform his or her duties under the direct supervision of the Project Manager. His or her primary responsibilities include:

  • Support the Project Manager in the technical, administrative and financial control of the work.
  • Support the Project Manager in general: documentation review, measurements, team monitoring, subcontract follow-ups.
  • Collaborate with the Construction Supervisory Unit’s analysis of results, including inspection and topography results, as well as the results and deliverables from the quality assurance firm.
  • Monitor quality control documentation for construction, equipment used, coordination with subcontractors, etc.
  • Prepare monthly reports on the projects implemented, gathering all previous information from the project’s supervision and management work, paying special attention to the traceability of field information.
  • Participate and collaborate with the Project Manager in coordinating the project or works to monitor progress and the stages yet to be completed.
  • Assist the Project Manager in the preparation of instructions, determinations, variation orders and other contractual documents.
  • Collaborate and maintain updated records of construction project performance and costs to determine estimated and actual costs and time projections.
  • Collaborate in the preparation of budgets and their reasonableness analysis.
  • Assist the Project Manager in preparing monthly reports to be presented to the various partners.
  • Participate in meetings, field inspections and support activities for the Project Manager
  • Support in the management of project document management.
  • Monitor and control the project closure schedule.
  • Collaborate with technical team members, including but not limited to architects, engineers, project managers.
  • Carry out any other activities inherent to the position and assigned by your immediate superior.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education:

  • Secondary education is required.
  • A bachelor’s degree (equivalent to a bachelor’s degree) in civil engineering, construction engineering, or another related engineering field may substitute for some years of relevant experience.
  • An advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in a related field is desirable.

Work experience:

  • Between two and six years of experience (depending on the level of education provided) in construction processes and/or supervision of infrastructure projects is required.
  • Experience in the execution and/or supervision of infrastructure projects will be valued.
  • Knowledge and handling of AutoCAD, Microsoft Project and related programs will be valued.

Languages:

  • Fluency in Spanish is required.
  • English language will be valued.

Work environment

  • This role will be held at the UNOPS Peru Office, currently located in Lima.
  • The work is 100% in-person, 5 days a week (Monday-Friday)
  • The office does not have parking space for employees.
