CIMMYT is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and service-oriented professional for the position of Market Development Officer to be a part of the CSISA-MEA project.
The country of post is Bangladesh, we are seeking 5 candidates for the following locations: Sylhet, Cox’s Bazar, Faridpur, and Jashore.
Duties and Responsabilities:
Work closely with Private sector actor and service provider to facilitate and increase sales of scale appropriate agro machinery technologies, ag inputs and Services (financial and others);
Maintain close contact and communication for project planning, strategy formulation and other issues with Supervisor (Market System Development Coordinator) and partners, counterparts, service providers, government, private sector and project participants.
Understand and analyze farm productivity, cropping pattern, crop diversification appropriate for small producers and business models of relevant service providers and traders, to enhance access to market.
Determine the cost benefit analysis of existing and potential Agro machinery/technology/equipment/ ag inputs and business in the rural/urban market.
Assess private companies’ business potential and evaluate the best partner for market linkage.
Conduct regular field travel and spend significant periods of time with farmers and stakeholders in the field.
Assist local service provider, local private sector in developing business plans and support to execute the business plan.
Arrange linkage meeting, business training among/for local service provider, market actor, producer group and relevant private sector. Also, promotional events and demonstrations for farm producers/users.
Play active role to increase competitiveness in market development and improve efficiency implementing potential interventions.
Monitoring and follow up current market linkage system, collect regular sales data and accelerating the process into “ROI” for the stakeholders.
Lead in planning and provide technical guidance for implementation to achieve project results through increasing productivity, improving access to agriculture mechanize service.
Follow up and monitor the field implementation of field/partner staff ensuring their capacities to explore new market opportunities for the farmers/producers/value chain actors and update the senior management team.
Present progress report and other reports on a regular basis, document the key learning & findings.
Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Master’s in agriculture/business studies /economics /social science or related disciplines.
Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in market development, market system (inputs and outputs), farm economy and good understanding on market development approach (M4P);
Good planning and organizing abilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent skills in community mobilization, working experiences with private sectors partners, working with team context and team approach,
Experience in profit analysis and business planning with MSP and farmers.
Ability to interact and collaborate with a broad range of public and private sector and NGO partners.
Excellent training facilitation, coordination, and report writing skills.
Ability to manage financial and administrative system with cost effective manner.
Understand roles of different actors in market development and private sectors engagement.
The selected requires the following competencies: Team Leadership, Negotiation, Resolution, Client Orientation, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving.
The position is for Bangladesh Nationals for an initial fixed-term contract of 1-year with 3 months probationary period, which further employment is subject to performance and the continued availability of funds.
