The Aga Khan Health Services, Afghanistan (AKHS, A) was established in 2003 as part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). AKHS, A provides health care services mainly on behalf of the government including the Ministry of Public Health’s of Afghanistan’s Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and Essential Package of Hospital Services (EPHS). AKHS, A is unique both in scale and scope, delivering critical health services along the continuum of care, from Community Health Workers (CHWs) to ISO certified hospital facilities.

Since 2003 AKHS, A is implementing Healthcare services in Bamyan, Baghlan and Badakhshan provinces. The agency’s scope of work includes the provision of primary and secondary Healthcare, Preventive and curative medical care, Nursing and Midwifery education, Human Resources Development and Hospital Management. The current working modality and role of AKHS, A in Bamyan and Badakhshan provinces as BPHS and EPHS implementer. AKHS, A provides technical support as well as capacity building of health personnel, immunization services, nutrition trainings and the training of Community Health Nurses and Community Health Midwifery.

AKHS, A tapped into internal and other donor fundings to continue supplementary and complementary supports to the national health system. Moreover, AKHS, A scale up AKDN innovations, including, expansions of e-Health services, e-learning initiatives, and cross border arrangements. To promote healthy environment, AKHS, A is implementing net zero and greenhouse gas emission.

• Taking part in Developing need-based training plans and implementing appropriate training programs for staffs in close coordination with line manager and Community Health Programs, Clinical Service departments, Provincial Health Program team and section officer
• Follow and arrange training under all grants and projects to meet the deadlines.
• Initiate staff training needs assessments and coordinate training based on the needs of the organization and staff.
• Develop and implement capacity building programs.
• Maintain strong coordination with the NPO Team and enhance the implementation of the training programs.
• Coordinate and communicate the training programs with Health Facilities.
• Providing, following up and payment of the per diem cost to staff (if applicable) and training cost to relevant training centers.
• Identify and coordinate the training material and books/periodicals required for resource center in all the regions.
• Entering training data to tracking data base for AKHS, staff.
• Report the progress of trainings on monthly and quarterly basis to Training coordinator/officer.
• Provide the variance in any training activity from the baseline plan prepared for donor reporting.

Carry out any other program related tasks assigned by the line manager.

Education: Degree in Public Health, Midwifery or MD.

Work Experience: 4 Years of experience in capacity building of healthcare programs.

Skills: Excellent negotiation and analytical skills, ability to work under stress and tight deadlines, proven ability in management, good Computer skill including MS Excel, MS Word and Access is preferable. Fluency in English and local language(s).
