Since the assassination of its president in 2021, Haiti has been sinking into a worsening humanitarian crisis, causing significant internal displacement and irregular migration flows due to security threats primarily stemming from gang warfare. In this context, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mission in Haiti offers various protection services to migrants and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in order to prevent, reduce and respond to the risks and consequences of this situation, and to promote the rights, security and dignity of these people.
