Job Summary
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is responsible for defining the bank’s technical vision, developing the product roadmap, and overseeing all facets of technology development. This role includes maintaining existing systems while providing strategic direction on technology-related matters to support information operations. The CIO is vital in shaping the bank’s strategic direction, promoting innovation and growth, and positioning the bank’s services as a leader in the financial industry.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Establish the company’s technical vision and leads all aspects of the company’s technological development.
- Evaluate and identify appropriate technology platforms for delivering the company’s services.
- Defines enterprise technology strategy and the appropriate application platform providing flexible and value-added services.
- Participate in strategic and operational governance processes of the business organization. Drive corporate competitive advantage through the innovative application of technologies to achieve business strategy.
- Works in a consultative fashion with other department heads as an advisor of technologies that may improve their efficiency and effectiveness.
- Conducts research and case studies on leading edge technologies and makes determinations on the probability of implementation.
- Establishes technical standards and process that ensure adherence for product development and company operations.
- Monitors departments performance to ensure goals and objectives are achieved or exceeded on a consistent basis.
- Review, analyze and approve the department’s operational and project budgets.
- Evaluate and approve new headcount, hiring, and employee performance.
- Develops associates to their fullest potential and provides challenging opportunities that enhance associates career growth. Recruits and develops appropriate talent pool to insure adequate bench strength and succession planning.
- Recognizes and rewards associates for accomplishments.
- Work with minimal supervision and be responsible for independently making a broad range of critical decisions. Apply sound judgment, escalating issues and decisions to the appropriate executive when necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field; an advanced degree (MBA or similar) is preferred.
- Internationally recognized certifications (e.g., ITIL, PMP, CISSP) are a plus.
- Prior experience in executive-level management, preferably in the banking industry.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities to convey information clearly to all stakeholders.
- Proven track record in attracting talent and building effective teams using both internal and external resources.
- Experience in leading and motivating teams through direction, coaching, and feedback.
- Ability to identify opportunities for change and drive effective change management initiatives.
- Skills in strategic technology planning, execution, and policy development.
- Expertise in applying technology solutions to business challenges.
- Extensive experience managing cross-functional teams and influencing senior management.
- Strong understanding of business processes and systems supporting high-volume, high-availability operations.
- Proficient in various computing infrastructures, including private and public clouds.
- Successful in managing projects and budgets under tight timelines.
- Experience in developing high-performance IT and engineering teams.
- Familiarity with integrating systems post-acquisition.
