About Handicap International:

HI has been supporting the Afghan people since 1987, starting its operations in Pakistan. Since 1996, HI has been operating across Afghanistan in order to launch victim assistance interventions, working at different levels of the society and adopting a cross-sectoral approach. While present on the ground to directly support victims of the conflict through the provision of a range of services – from physical rehabilitation, to mine risk education and inclusive livelihoods – HI has been continuously advocating to increase the rights of victims and other people with disabilities in the country. In particular, and in line with its global strategy and priorities, HI has been advocating to reduce the use of landmines and conventional weapons. Job Description:

Job Purpose:

The Cleaner for GH is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards within the guest house premises. This includes cleaning and sanitizing guest rooms, bathrooms, common areas, and outdoor spaces to ensure a comfortable and pleasant environment for residents and visitors. The Cleaner will adhere to established cleaning procedures, use appropriate cleaning equipment and products, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Additionally, the Cleaner may be required to assist with inventory management of cleaning supplies and report any maintenance issues or damages to the relevant authorities.

The Duties and responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Cleaning the living room daily to ensure it is presentable and ready for use.
  • Thoroughly washing and sanitizing bedrooms and toilets, including walls and floors, using appropriate cleaning agents.
  • Monitoring and replenishing bedroom supplies such as toilet paper, soap, and tissue paper.
  • Laundering and ironing clothes for guests, ensuring they are neatly stored in designated areas.
  • Making and changing beds for expatriates every six days to maintain cleanliness and comfort.
  • Washing towels daily to provide fresh and clean linens for guests.
  • Assisting with cooking duties for staff when required, especially during cook leave days or absences.
  • Preparing guest rooms for new arrivals by cleaning and setting up beds.
  • Periodically washing curtains in each room to maintain cleanliness and freshness.
  • Working under the overall supervision of the supervisor to ensure adherence to cleaning standards and procedures.
  • Wash dishes daily to provide fresh and clean linens for guests

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Skills:

  • At least 3 years work experience with I/NGOs.
  • School graduate · Computing / office technology
  • Functioning of telecommunications equipment
  • Principles of stock management · English language will be an asset.
