About AKHS-A (Aga Khan Health Service-Afghanistan):

Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) is one of the most comprehensive private, not‐for‐profit health care systems in the developing world with community health programs in large geographical areas in Central and South Asia, as well as in East Africa.

The Aga Khan Health Services, Afghanistan (AKHS, A) was established in 2003 as part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). AKHS, A provides health care services mainly on behalf of the government including the Ministry of Public Health’s of Afghanistan’s Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and Essential Package of Hospital Services (EPHS). AKHS, A is unique both in scale and scope, delivering critical health services along the continuum of care, from Community Health Workers (CHWs) to ISO certified hospital facilities.

AKHS, A is currently implementing healthcare services in Bamyan, Baghlan, Badakhshan, Kabul and Takhar provinces. The agency’s scope of work includes the provision of primary and secondary healthcare, preventive and curative medical care, Nursing and Midwifery education, Human Resources Development and Hospital Management. As BPHS and EPHS implementer, AKHS, A provides technical support as well as capacity building of health personnel, immunization services, nutrition trainings and the training of Community Health Nurses and Community Health Midwives.

AKHS, A draws on internal and other donor fundings to continue supplementary and complementary support to the national health system. Moreover, AKHS, A has introduced innovations, including, expansions of e-Health services, e-learning initiatives, and cross border arrangements. To promote healthy environment, AKHS, A is also implementing net zero and greenhouse gas emission initiatives.

Job Description:

  • Plane and implementation of AKHS.A health program activities in Bamyan province in cluster two (Panjab district) level including support to all health faculties.
  • Manage and coordinate the Sub Office activities based on Cluster2.
  • Coordinate the activities of Sub center project officer for effective supervision of sub centers.
  • Provide regular and rigorous supervision, monitoring and evaluation of health activates at program area-both at health facilities and community levels.
  • Ensure overall management of health service activates at district level.
  • Coordination and cooperation with local leaders, community and district authorities, NGOs and UN Organization at district level.
  • Preparation and implementation of work plan for Sub Office and all health facilities.
  • Collect analyze and report to HMIS activates reports at district level.
  • Facilitate and ensure timely transfer of supplies including vaccines and medicines to all health posts and health facilities.
  • Supervise and ensure implementation of outreach, mobile and qualities assurance activities in all heath facilities.
  • Preparation and submission of monthly Technical, financial and administrative report according to the project requirement to AKHS, A main office.
  • Participate in the requirement of health and supports staff for health facilities at district level.
  • Ensure effective functioning of CHC and its BPHS components including EmOC activities.
  • Manage and coordinate training program for health facilities staff and CHWs.
  • Conduct regular post training follow-up for all staff at Cluster.
  • Assist and coordinate with HMIS Unit for project assessment and surveys.
  • Ensure that all medical equipment and other materials are sent on time to the health facilities and through related departments.
  • Participate in the staff appraisal process on a regular basis.
  • Participate in related training program, coordination meeting at MOH and nation office.

Carry out any other task assigned time to time by the line supervisor.

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • MD doctor/ Public Health, graduated from the recognized university.

Experience:

  • At least 3 years’ working experience in BPHS project and health facility management.

Skills:

  • Having excellent knowledge and skills of computers with good communication and teamwork skills

Technical Skills:

  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to develop supervision and monitoring plan and gap analysis.

 Other Skills:

  • Understanding English Language and fluent in local languages
