Background
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) seeks an experienced Digital Communications Consultant to help strengthen its digital profile in Brussels and among EU stakeholders. This role supports the achievement of our EU advocacy goals through increased brand visibility, strategic content, and creative engagement.
Scope of Work
Reporting to the Communications Manager in Brussels, the consultant will collaborate with advocacy, policy, and communications teams across IRC to:
Strategy and Campaigns
- Develop and implement a digital content strategy aligned with EU advocacy objectives
- Create digital campaign strategies tailored for EU audiences
- Monitor Brussels digital trends and identify engagement opportunities
- Engage with influencers and optimize outreach
- Support Google Ads and paid digital advertising
- Lead analytics and monthly KPI reporting for IRC EU digital channels
Content Creation
- Draft and manage content for IRC EU’s digital channels (LinkedIn, X, Bluesky)
- Ensure donor visibility requirements are met
- Manage and update the IRC EU website (Drupal or similar CMS)
- Produce visual content (graphics, videos, infographics)
- Prepare social media toolkits for partners and campaigns
- Ensure content meets IRC brand and quality standards
Collaboration
- Work with country teams to feature national-level advocacy work
- Attend events to gather media assets (photo/video)
- Keep EU staff informed on digital trends and relevant IRC content
Deliverables
- Strengthened IRC digital presence across EU-focused channels
- Consistent content aligned with IRC brand and advocacy goals
- Monthly analytics and KPI reports
Qualifications
- Proven experience in digital communications and campaign strategy
- Excellent writing, editing, and visual content production skills
- Strong grasp of EU political context, especially on asylum/humanitarian issues
- Proficiency with Canva, Adobe Suite, Google Analytics, SEO, and CMS tools
- Strong organization, time management, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in communications or digital marketing
Desirable:
- Experience working with NGOs or creative agencies
- Familiarity with Drupal CMS
