Functional Responsibilities
- Deliver on the CRLP communications strategy:
- Update and adapt the communications strategy as and when needed, setting out the key communications challenges and opportunities faced by CRLP and how these will be addressed.
- Coordinate closely with the donor and their communications focal point to ensure the communication and visibility guidelines and visibility requirements of the WB are understood and met.
- Ensure advanced information of posts and provide a stream of opportunities for donors to use CRLP’s products/assets.
- Lead a step-increase in public visibility of CRLP’s work:
- Ensure a continuous production of high-quality images (have the technical knowledge to manage, format, edit, and produce visual assets, as well as train/support others to do so)
- Establish a system and process of regularly adding photos to a drive accessible to the World Bank (have the patience and fortitude to do the filing/organising, as well as train/support others to do so).
- Ensure easy web-based access to information about CRLP.
- Identify and obtain feature stories, videos, photography, and other materials on CRLP.
- Pursue and manage an increase in public messaging.
- Communicate CRLP’s work, including its activities and results, through key products and events:
- Prepare informative material on CRLP activities and beneficiaries for use by the WB and other stakeholders.
- Determine key messages and refine those messages over time based on evidence.
- Develop and review high-quality written communications content for social media and the project website.
- Deliver key communications products, such as the weekly and quarterly reports, in a timely manner.
- Support learning events, workshops, and international days to showcase and knowledge-share.
- Lead and supervise CRLP’s communications resources:
- Manage and supervise the comms team (national personnel, photographer, PR company, interns).
- Set, manage, and review communication team/individual’s workplans.
- Identify and support growth opportunities, through delegation, exposure or coaching.
- Support the CRLP Management Team in key communication tasks, including:
- Ensure that succinct and accurate minutes are taken of significant meetings.
- Provide regular reports on key themes and issues as identified.
- Provide high-quality briefing kits for visitors before field visits.
Education/Experience/Language requirements
Education
- A Master’s degree preferably in communication, media studies, journalism, development studies, international relations, public relations or related fields is required.
- A Bachelor’s degree with an additional two years of similar experience is considered equivalent.
Work experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the development and implementation of external communications strategies, external relations and/or other strategic communication roles is required.
- A working knowledge of producing digital assets, including the project website as well as photo and video shooting and editing, is required.
- Experience meeting donors’ visibility, learning, and influencing requirements through communications is required.
- Experience in development projects, preferably in the area of livelihoods and food security, in a developing country, is an asset.
- Experience in Asia would be an asset.
- Knowledge of the political, economic and social situation in Afghanistan is an asset.
- Excellent presentation skills would be an asset.
Language Requirement
- Fluency in both written and spoken English is required.
