Support Children and Afghan Women Needs Organization (SCAWNO) is a non-profit NGO registered with the Ministry of Economy of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, registration number 1174 in 2028. Established by a group of dedicated and qualified Afghan professionals, SCAWNO aims to promote community development, good governance, democracy building, and capacity building. The organization was founded by members of Local Youth Councils, with a mission to contribute positively to the development process of communities in Afghanistan through capacity building, women’s rights awareness, gender-based violence, children’s protection awareness, legal consultation, economic sustainability, income generation projects, literacy, vocational training, health education, and teacher training. SCAWNO’s vision is to create a peaceful, free, and developed Afghanistan based on good Afghan cultural values, where the population lives in peace, with self-dignity and self-sufficiency, and where people manage their own personal development and the development of the society in which they live.
Job Description:
Responsibilities
Community Engagement:
- Conduct outreach activities to engage community members and build trust with local communities and various local actors.
- Facilitate community meetings, focus groups, and other participatory activities to ensure inclusive planning and decision-making processes.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships at the community, district, and provincial levels.
Stakeholder Coordination:
- Coordinate with local leaders, civil society organizations (CSOs), and other stakeholders to ensure community support and involvement in project activities.
- Organize and conduct awareness-raising sessions on the project’s objectives, activities, and expected benefits.
- Effective coordination with DCMs, community and other stakeholders , to ensure the well coordination mechanism are in place for proper implementation of the project activities.
Capacity Building:
- Provide capacity-building support to community members to enhance their participation in project activities and decision-making processes.
- Identify and engage key community stakeholders and groups.
Feedback Mechanisms:
- Establish and manage feedback mechanisms to capture community concerns, suggestions, and grievances.
- Ensure that feedback is addressed promptly and transparently to maintain community trust and support.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Monitor community engagement activities and report on progress, challenges, and outcomes.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly work plan and report regularly and submit reports on project activities, program progress, and challenges encountered.
- Conduct success stories to ensure the effectiveness of the skills on leaners abilities and generating income for live sustainability
- Mobilize local resources and encourage leaners to effectively used local for sustain the family income.
- Regularly doing observation for all established classes and solve the problem take on spot
- Have the ability to effectively communicate with VSC members and attract their support and contribution for the implementing the planned activities.
- Have the ability to Kobo and enter the data in online and offline kobo data platform on daily bases
Job Requirements:
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Community Development, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in community mobilization, particularly in literacy and skills development programs.
- Proven experience in engaging with diverse communities and facilitating participatory approaches.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Fluency in English and local languages (both written and verbal).
- Ability to break down projects into achievable tasks and manage weekly plans and reports.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Based in Kabul, with frequent travel to project sites as required.
- Standard working hours with occasional flexibility required for community events or meetings.
- Adherence to SCAWNO’s core values and principles.
