Job Description
In partnership with the IKEA Foundation, the IRC and a network of local and global partners have developed a program – Refugees in East Africa: Boosting Urban Innovations for Livelihoods Development (Rebuild) – that sets out to do just that. Rebuilds vision is for urban refugees and vulnerable host residents to achieve economic self-reliance and benefit from strengthened urban economic, regulatory and social environments. Rebuild will aim to enable change at varying levels, from better access to livelihoods opportunities and inclusive services within communities, to improved refugee-related policies and more targeted and effective service delivery from national, regional and global actors.
Role Overview:
The role of an independent survey enumerator for the Rebuild program involves collecting data through a follow-up survey for 800 previously served Rebuild clients. They will play a crucial role in supporting the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team by assisting in capturing valuable data and insights to help Rebuild program evaluate its effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and make informed decisions to better support its clients in the future.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the M&E team to conduct follow-up survey for 800 previously served Rebuild Clients.
Ensure that the survey is administered accurately and consistently according to the established protocols and guidelines provided by the Rebuild program, ensuring accurate information in the CommCare system.
Accurately record survey responses and other relevant information for later analysis, within the CommCare system.
Maintain high standards of data quality and integrity by double-checking survey responses for accuracy, completeness, and consistency, as well as identifying and resolving any discrepancies or errors.
Communicate effectively by explaining the purpose of the survey, obtaining consent from participants, and providing updates or reports on survey progress to program coordinators or supervisors.
Adhere to ethical standards and guidelines for conducting surveys, including maintaining confidentiality and respecting the rights and privacy of survey participants.
Use the CommCare mobile data collection tool proficiently to collect responses and record data accurately using existing data collection tools.
Identify challenges and obstacles encountered during data collection and provide constructive feedback to improve data collection processes.
Qualifications
Minimum qualification of a degree or diploma in business studies, social sciences, or any other related field.
A strong commitment to the mission and values of International Rescue Committee.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and entry.
Basic understanding of data collection tools and mobile data collection systems, with a willingness to learn.
Strong communication skills to effectively participate in discussions and interviews during qualitative data collection.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team and follow instructions from the M&E team lead.
Proficiency in using technology, especially mobile devices, and data collection apps.
Prior experience in data collection, surveys, or related fields is a plus.
Available immediately and for the entire period that the exercise will take place.
