About

To support UNICEFs Child Nutrition and Development team to improve the nutrition of pregnant women and adolescent girls globally. Assist UNICEFs New York maternal nutrition team at HQ for business continuity and to ensure multiple donor deliverables for measurement, learning and evaluation are met. This will involve the collation, analysis and dissemination of data and information for maternal nutrition programming, including multiple micronutrient supplementation (MMS), as outlined in the strategic results of the Acceleration Plan. Part of this work is to support UNICEF’s reporting procedures, including the NutriDash monitoring system, strengthening annual activities related to backend functionalities for the maternal nutrition module and other modules where maternal nutrition information is collected.
Scope of Work:
The consultant will undertake key activities as outlined below to meet various donor deliverables:
a. Maternal nutrition data generation/harmonisation
– Work with country offices to generate qualitative data at country/regional levels to provide information on programming that is not included in regular data collection mechanisms, e.g., adherence, deep-dives, quality of provision of maternal nutrition interventions, etc.
– Provide support for country offices in the inclusion of maternal nutrition indicators into population-based representative surveys; individual, facility and sub-national level data using different methods of data collection
– Support the HQ maternal nutrition team to liaise with relevant partners for harmonization and visualization of maternal nutrition data
b. Analysis and Consolidation of Maternal Nutrition Data from NutriDash
– Develop the protocol for the NutriDash 2025 maternal nutrition data and support the updating of the maternal nutrition module for 2025
– Support the collection of 2025 maternal nutrition data using NutriDash and perform data cleaning and quality assurance of the data
– Using the maternal nutrition data for 2025 from NutriDash, support data visualization to track scale-up activities and advocacy efforts
– Work closely with the data and monitoring team to support other tasks related to NutriDash, including system support and secondary data analysis.
c. Contribute to Donor Reporting, Evidence Generation and Documentation of Best Practices
– Support the development of monthly, quarterly and annual donor reports across key maternal nutrition programmes
– Support countries in the documentation of processes and lessons for maternal nutrition scale-up including the development of case studies, reports and research publications
– Contribute to resource mobilization and advocacy efforts to donors through the development of briefs, presentations and tools
d. Integration of UNICEF’s Maternal Nutrition data into relevant external maternal nutrition platforms
– Facilitate discussion with partners on the maternal nutrition data and identify opportunities for collaborations.
– Support the inclusion of UNICEF’s maternal nutrition data into other internal and external dashboards/platforms

Support for countries scaling up maternal nutrition
- Participate in monthly meetings with at least 10 country and regional offices on maternal nutrition acceleration plans.
- Database of maternal nutrition information developed and maintained, through bi-annual updating and analysis of data from country offices.
- Review of at least 5 outputs from countries, including fundraising proposals, reviews or evaluations of research or programming efforts.
Qualifications
(1) Education
– Master’s degree in nutrition, public health etc. or a relevant field.
(2) Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required:
i. Minimum 8 years of field and survey experience in nutrition and health programming
ii. Proven experience in monitoring, evaluation and learning of nutrition and health related projects
iii. Proven IT and data analysis and visualisation skills using various statistical data packages e.g., (macros and data analytics in excel), SQL and PowerBi or other visualization software
iv. Experience in working with UNICEF preferable
Language Requirements: Fluency in written and spoken English is required.

- the costs per each deliverable and the total lump-sum for the whole assignment (in US$) to undertake the terms of reference.
