About

Information about the organization that has offered the job:

Providing technical assistance for the supervision and coordination of the local implementation of the WASH strategy in 90 schools in Sacapulas; within the framework of the prioritized Educational Transformation and Innovation program, the implementation of the WASH in Schools model promoted by UNICEF in the department of Quiché will be developed.

Workplace:  Municipality of Sacapulas, department of Quiché.
Tasks to be performed:
  • Local coordination between implementing partners and the educational community.
  • Monitor field compliance with work plans related to the implementation of UNICEF’s WASH model.
  • Promote the use of UNICEF materials and tools among implementing partners within the framework of implementation (awareness-raising materials, evaluation tools (kobotoolbox), and monitoring systems).
  • Participate in and randomly monitor needs assessments at educational centers where implementing partners develop WinS actions within the framework of working with UNICEF.
  • Oversee the quality and delivery of inputs to be made by partners, ensuring functional standards and acceptance by beneficiaries.
  • Supervise maintenance actions carried out in WASH facilities in Educational Centers.
  • To certify, using UNICEF tools, the operation of WASH facilities in 90 schools based on basic service criteria according to the JMP (Joint Monitoring Program) service ladder.
  • Certify the development of behavior change actions associated with improved schools (clean hand festivals).
  • Actively participate in the organization of visits or specific events for the presentation of results.
  • Participate in technical meetings to coordinate and update monitoring tools.

To qualify as a child advocate, you must meet the following requirements…
  • Education:
    • Technical university studies in Civil Engineering, Construction or Architecture.
  • Work experience:
    • Minimum 1 year in technical project management (design, execution and supervision) of social infrastructure.
  • Have knowledge and skills in:
    • Knowledge:
      – Reading and interpretation of plans.
      – AutoCAD handling.
      – Handling of project management tools (Excel or similar).

The final fee will follow the principle of “best value,” i.e., achieving the desired result with the lowest possible fees. Consultants will be asked to stipulate an all-inclusive fee , including travel and per diem expenses, as applicable.

LATE DELIVERY CLAUSE: If the Consultant experiences a delay in delivering the stipulated products, due to causes beyond UNICEF’s control, he/she will be penalized with 3% of the total cost of the contract per calendar week of delay, with a maximum of 24% of the total contract cost.

PAYMENT TERMS: (a) UNICEF, unless otherwise specified in the contract, will make payment within 30 days of receipt of the consultant’s invoice, which is issued only upon UNICEF’s acceptance of the work specified in the contract. (b) Payment against the aforementioned invoice will reflect any discount shown in the payment terms provided that payment is made within the period shown in the payment terms of the contract. (c) The prices stated in the contract may not be increased except by express written agreement of UNICEF. (d) Payment of professional fees will be based on the submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in the event that the submitted deliverables do not meet the required standards or in the event of delays in the submission of deliverables by the consultant.

Individuals hired under a consulting or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the United Nations Staff Regulations and Rules and UNICEF policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to the benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their terms of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contract for Consultant Services. Consultants are responsible for determining their tax obligations and paying any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
